To Finger Groove or not to Finger Groove?

I am planning to order a custom 110 in the next few months, do you think the finger grooves make it "grippier" or does the standard hold more securely because it fills the hand better? At first the FG seems the obvious choice, but it does feel slimmer with less to hold on to when wet. Many of you guys have much more experience with these than I do, what can you tell me? Thanks!

I feel finger grooves certainly improve grip. Some folks dont care for em. I certainly prefer them both for grip and appearance.

I don't think they feel slimmer because the grooves are not that deep. I agree with what imafritz stated, improved grip and appearance.

They improve the grip for sure. I am not sure I like the look better, and I suspect the general public prefers the none finger groove ones, but if you getting a user, then go for the finger groves....

The spacing of the finger grooves is pretty uniform from model to model. So check to see how they fit your hand. I like 'em.

I put finger grooves on my 110 back in the 70's, I did it with a half round file. When I started making knives in the 90's I always put at least the index finger round and more on all of my field models.

Finger grooves? YES! we have fingers.

So far it looks like 6 to 0 FOR finger grooves, I didn't think it would be such a landside for FG!

edbeau, I like that custom, nice! I was considering Ram for mine, seems like it would be pretty grippy and in my price range.

I'll join the consensus. For a user, I like the finger grooves.

IDK, I like them with or without. Slightly different looks. The FGs look more aggressive, no FGs looks more of a classy gentlemanly knife.

Functionally speaking, FGs give you a better grip if you plan to use the knife.

I'm undecided. However I was using my 560 the other day on a hog, don't recall how but my hand slipped forward a little an the first thing that came to mind was that I was glad it wasn't a 110. Which I wish had the front bolster of the 112 and it wouldn't need fg.

groovy...

Wow, it's Finger Groove Mania in here! Guess my next one will be FG then.

Thanks for the awesome pictures guys!

My first 110 had finger grooves and I lost it on a construction site when I was a young man. I really liked that knife, and have been thinking of a custom with finger grooves myself.
