I usually supply two handles with my hawks because I know someone will always want to throw it at the wood pile or the barn door. The Curly maple handle is hand made and you just wouldn't want the throw the hawk fit with this handle, it would be just a mater of time before it broke. Put on the hickory handle (available on line for about $5) and break that one. Save the curly maple for display.
Forged from a stone mason's hammer and differentially heat treated with a hard edge
Curly maple handle is 18 inches long, the head 7 inches and the cutting edge 3 inches
The hickory handle is 19 inches long and fits the head with a leather spacer as in the photo. This is to adapt the hawk to the factory size handle and makes for a nice fit.
A simple leather edge cover will be provided
