Tome Feteira hand finishing file: Should it look like this?

Hi.

I bought a Tome Feteira hand finishing file. The file is scored along its length by deep grind marks causing breaks in the cutting ridges. Please examine the photos.
The seller says the breaks in the cutting ridges will not affect the performance of the file. I am not convinced. Surely the breaks in the cutting ridges will cause scratches? As I wish to return the file for a refund I can not test it. The file will be used primarily, if not wholly, for drawfiling.

I have no idea but I always used a small single cut three-side-file (triangular file) for draw filing

The image I found of one online doesn’t have those lines, but I don’t know either.

Well, I'm not sure - never even heard of those files before. Looking at "Penn Tool Co." (write it all out as one word with .com at end) or do a google search and put the sku number "43875285" into the search bar and you'll find a 6" Long, Smooth Cut" with the "Triangle American-Pattern" which might be what you have. The 6" file is listed at $8.89 each.

I suspect your file is as it should be, but for sure I do not have any experience with that file. Looking at the smooth cut files on other sites they sure do have a funky looking pattern.
