TOPS Knives MSK 2.5 Mini Scandi - - Kydex scratching the side of the blade

Hey guys,

Thought i'd post to ask if any of you have experienced this with TOPS knives:

I got a Mini Scandi MSK 2.5. Awesome knife. I love it for its size and utility capabilities. The sheath falls short however, because one side of the kydex sheath is flat (i.e. not formed to the blade profile) and rubs the blade. This produces more scratches each time i pull out. I also have to pull out fast as i have no thumb leverage and the retention is really strong. Do you guys have any of the same experiences with your TOPS knives?

This is a deal breaker and a real shame. I had to make a custom leather sheath myself just to make up for this because i really love the knife. If i hear that you guys have an MSK with a sheath that doesn't scratch the blade, i will call them for a new sheath.

Any knife that I have owned and made, that has had a kydex sheath, scratched the finish: period.

Which is why I use leather for all my sheaths. I even get told that some of my tacticals don't go well with my leather sheaths, which I disagree with and partly don't care because I want leather not kydex... ( I want my knives to be pretty and still be able to perform.)

However, I don't own any TOPS knives, so I am no help there...

You were a big help with that small tip. Thanks a lot, Weatherman. I think the reason why it seemed to be a bigger deal on this blade is because it is my first partially coated fixed blade, just with the zero grind left open. That made the scratches more evident than on my satin finished knives which reflect a lot more light naturally. I may stick to leather with this blade because i like the sheath i made. Give Kydex a chance, bro! You may find a use for it one day, perhaps not even for knives.
