i was wondering if anyone knows of a version of Paul Ehlers MAX the Mini-axe by TOPS? is this in the works?

i missed out on the one by ATC, so if anyone can confirm this, i would be very excited.

thanks

i received an answer from TOPS... yipee! around 120 days till release. retail price of $179.00. i wanted one of the ATC ones, but missed out. looks like i'll be getting this one. :D

The MAX is a grail piece for me. The hunt is almost over. A TOPS version will be very cool to see and addto my growing hawk wall.

did you win a ATC or tops version
also email sen to you about another post
THANKS

I'll answer for Joe since I ended buying it from him. It was an ATC version. The TOPS version was just released a month or so ago.

The TOPS version is very well made and comes with my blessing as well as that of the designer, Paul Ehlers.

I had the ATC version sold it like an ass, wyrm if you ever want to get rid of her let me know, In the next 2-3 wks i will pick up a tops if i can not score a atc

Mine from JekeeJoe

Mine again (what the **** happened to the pins!!??)

TOPS version

ATC original version

The one I have is not near the quality of the one in the pic that I saved from years ago:(

I talked with Mike Fuller from TOPS today and he is real keen on this piece and it is doing well for them and I'll likely get one sooner or later.

i was able to get one on my trip South. this is a very nice little axe! it's not too small, and has some real heft to her. a nice and rather unique axe.

here it is in hand:

What type of sheath (if any) does TOPS supply with that sexy little hand axe?

Great. Thanx for the pic. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to get one of these.
I've been looking for some type of "mini axe" for my hiking kit for awhile. That little beauty looks like it will fit nicely.
Have you done any work with it? How does it perform?

OK, Im sold on the MAX.

Before i rush out and buy one, is this a good design for cemp work, or is this design oriented twords fighting?

Has anyone actually used this one? If so, what on, and what were it's strengths and weaknesses?

I handled one the other day, and it just didn't seem real well suited towards anything I do personally? (woodsloafing, yard work)

Thats exactly what i was wondering. Sure it LOOKS cool, but is it worth its salt for....well anything realy?

EXACTLY! It'd be nice to know if it's worth it's salt before I shell out $179 for one. Sure it looks cool, but can it split kindling?

Yeah more than a few are wowed by the looks! I hope more information about it comes soon. from viewing the pictures it looks like it would do well if needed as a weapon, but I still would like to get some more facts on this model.

looks like nobody knows.

Iv got an idea! how about one of you guys who have one (you posted pictures, sowe KNOW whao you are) get off your duffs and USE THE TOOL.

Go out back and prune a branch off of a tree and limb it; then get back to us.
