Torx sizes?

Sorry, but this might a dumb question, and it's not limited to Buck knives. What are the smallest and/or the typical Torx bit sizes to get at some of the smaller screws on folding/flipper knives (including Bucks)? I have a Torx tool for automotive use, but the smallest bit on it doesn't fit into those smaller sized screws.

My Vantage pro has T6 size torx. I’ve had another knife that had T8.

Torx sizes start at T1 which is .031" across the points and go up from there.
Many automotive sizes are in the T20 and up for things like headlights etc.
Some of the fasteners on my Jeep suspension are T55 a few of my lathe tool
holders use a T6 to hold the insert. Below T10 try looking at micro tool suppliers.
Look up Wiha tool and you should find a good listing.

Most common size Torx you need are T6 and T8 but I would recommend a set that goes from T5 to T10 at least and I would recommend a good brand such a Wiha.

I like the round Whia handles for clean work and have a number of them but tend to prefer socket drive torx for automotive.
I just ordered the set you linked to along with the stubby handle for my machinist tool chest.
I already have a regular bit handle, but was looking at that round handle as well. Think I'll get one of those, as it looks like it would allow for better torque and control with those smaller bits.

You will need a handle that those bits and I much prefer their German manufactured bits those appear to be made in Vietnam.

Well, 1 day delivery from Amazon. Yes, the 6 bit set is made in Vietnam. The Stubby handle, Germany.
As near I could determine with Google, Wiha is moving bit production to its Vietnam factory. Hopefully since
it is their own factory quality will not suffer. That said, I would have still felt better if they were German.
In hindsight I wish I had spent a few dollars more for the larger set with a case and hopefully still made in Germany.

Just remember, very often you need two.

I need a T5 occasionally, and all the way up to T15; T6 and T8 most frequently. For folders, I haven't come across a screw larger than T15.

I personally prefer the Wiha Torx screwdrivers, like 36266 for T6.

I have used one of these for many years, a Wiha "371R HM7" torx set. Includes T6-T10, T15 and T20. Have never used the T20, most used are the T6 & T8s, occasionally T10. Works on all my Bucks, Benchmades, Ontarios & Spydercos. Great quality, made in Germany :

I have bought German and offshore Wiha bits. The latter were cheaper (less expensive), but I haven’t tested either to failure. The offshore bits were not well labeled, and I discovered after delivery that they were not made im Vaterland.

I have been using this set for over twenty years and once you figure out how to use the case, it works fine.

If your old case is beat up or worn out I got a brand new one here waiting for you brother. Probably would fit in a small flat rate..

Yes, I have read that Wiha licensed some of their screwdrivers for China production by Xiaomi a couple of years ago. Haven’t tried them. Go for the Made in Germany sets, I would say.
