FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNERS- SEE POST 129
Hey everyone here in Traditonals.....

PHOTO COMPETITION THREAD: The theme? Traditonal Knife Photo - perhaps even with your lovely animal friend

The second mystery Knife is for Our friends who include your animal friend in a awesome outdoor setting- try to take new shots if possible - unless your friend isnt with us any more.

Conditions:, you must have at least 25 posts here in Traditionals.

I will let this run for a short while as we dont want to hold up the works- Frank, Gary ..please let me know if things go on or something doesnt fit right.

Well its been quite some time since I have put up an actual Give-away Thread, we - I say we because my good friends have come in and joined forces at times on a few occasions, a couple of times to help our good mate Bob out, also we have had to join forces in another giveaway to combat another Give-away Thread fella who was making all kinds of threats and Chief came in to sort him out lol - that was a lot of fun and a lot af Banter going to & fro :D, so...
I am going to put up a couple of Knives- the first one that was gifted to me - actually by the great guy who had to be put in place when he was mis-behaving, I feel really guilty that I dont use such a beautiful Knife.

Animal -& Outdoor shot ? your just going to have to wait and see what that knife is- in fact you wont know until you unwrap it

I am inviting my friends to contact me through pm - please not in this Thread - so we can put up a few knives - to give our Traditional Friends incentive to get out there and take some snaps, I will edit this first post - and ask my-co founding Trad mates to write a paragraph and I will copy and paste it in section here in post #1 with their chosen knife.

My first Knife is a Nice Red Bone Case Canoe- drop dead mint..( Mark side is very dark- almost brown ), there's oil on the Blades - please forgive bad pics...

Heres your chance everyone- Knives and Pets- Remember- you dont have to include a pet - but if you do- you get into another draw- the draws also depend on the generous people who have donated a knife to this give-away- they will each judge a section and choose a winner through their own chosen methods...so we have a great stash of knives now up for grabs- dont forget I am also adding a mystery Knife to the Pet/ animal section as well!
Lets Go!!!!!!

I must be in the minority, because I don't have an animal friend. Sounds like a fun thread, but I wont be able to compete.

Not an entry but thanks for the chance!

I’m allergic to cats and dogs lol. I keep swearing I’m gonna build me a chicken coop but other projects keep popping up.

My beautiful pythons Boris and Oz not available to me right now for photogs.
So I will sadly forego my chance.
I also feel that Duncan needs time to recover from the crushing defeat of the All Blacks by the Wallabies in the final test match of the Bledisloe. Ok Ok yer won the cup but Australia needed that win.
Cheers.

Folks- Thank you for your posts...remember - theres two sections..

1, Outdoor photos of a Traditional Knife

2, Outdoor photo's of the knife and your mate!

Meako my friend... Oh man...whats up with that? Aussies beating the All Blacks- actually to be honest- the All Blacks need to loose - it gets tiresome to see them win all the time and I would rather anyday the Aussie boys give us a reminder that we need to keep on our toes- especially when the Aussies are down because they are at their most dangerous when they are at that position!

The All Blacks need to be alert- there was a time when playing for instance Argentina - that we would wipe them off the Board- but now every team is getting extremely competitive- what with importing players etc...so its good to close the gap now to make it a game of real interest!
In saying all that - we also have to give you guys a win now and then to stop you guys dragging the bottom lip- oh Lord we never hear the end of it- so - its all in the game plan my friend:D

try to get a photo Meako- you pets are probably the most interesting that we see here - Pythons 'n all!

Here is one of our cats, Frisky. Whenever I am working in my shop he and our other cat will join me. I came back from a break one day and Frisky had decided to make a bed out of one of my storage boxes.

Edit to add- I know there is not a knife in the photo but I guarantee there are several in various stages of completion just out of frame!

I usually pass on GAW's but I'll try my hand at this one. My only "pets" are my flock of chickens, and they don't sit still very long to snap a photo with a knife. Here is a nice shot I took recently on a walk through the woods. Thanks for the opportunity!

I'm not positive where these two photos count but I'm always glad to show 'da boyz'. Bosco and Oreo were my two Newfoundlands. Both are gone in the last year. Finest animals I've ever been around. The second photo is of a new Northwoods Little Bay on an iPad display of them. I guess to show that life goes on.image.jpeg image.jpeg

My little Princess Mercedes Striking a pose and let me tell you it wasn't easy lol . Guess she wasn't feeling photogenic this morning but she was a trooper when I told her it was for a good cause :D

I would love to participate in both parts of your GAW. First pictures are of Nyla we just got her yesterday she's a 9 week old mixed breed and sweet as can be. She is very hard to photograph outside as she's running everywhere so I'm posting 4 pictures and one is inside hope you don't mind.

Great idea for a giveaway, how can me and buttercup not participate.
I can never get her to sit still for photos, so I wasn't planning on posting any picture of her, but then this happened.
Here's my first attempt at the knife pic I was going to post.

Here's the pic I was trying to take.

Lastly here's my favorite pic of buttercup and one of the few decent ones I've been able to take.

I don't expect to win this because my photography skills aren't on the same level as others here, but it's a pretty nice day out today and great for hanging out in the yard with my best friend, so we're happy.

Theres some neat shots coming in of some great Knives and even better some of your Buddies - thank you so far, and so far I have a couple of lads coming in with Knives- I am just waiting for their input or paragraph to add and we will post them, also another has expressed interest in donating- Awesome Stuff!

Dont worry too much about Photography Skills- as there will be a section as to there is an overall " throw them in the hat " chance, also probably a section for the real awesome shot - and you dont have to be a pro to get that- most times it's getting out there- looking and taking a chance shot!

Keep them coming everyone and thank you so far!

Great stuff Duncan, mate! It could be epic but with you in the chair it's already become the stuff of legend:D:cool:

I'd like to have a shot but I can't promise anything too recent, you see we're rapidly heading for winter here in the Arctic and the weather's foul and getting darker by the day. By December, we barely have 4 or 5 hours of twilight per day, not ideal conditions for getting outside for pix:eek:

My first is a picture of some 'mates' who regularly visit the garden of my place in the city, a couple of rather tatty Hares (they were moulting) having a wash&brush up. We get a lot of Hares in city centres lately and I put out hay, carrots&rabbit pellets for them in January when the temps can reach -32 C. Also Red Squirrels visit a lot and Hedgehogs in summer. I've seen a Fox and cubs not too far away either and they're turning urban too (rich pickings from fast food litter)

My cat Pipp not long after she turned up as a stray at the country place after being abandoned as a summer cat. The cruelty of humans...no knife visible here but there's a nice Stag 73 liner lock in that knee pocket of my trousers.

Knife content: an outdoors shot of the impressive 2016 Forum Knife:thumbsup:

More knife content and animal magic. Not exactly outdoors, but outdoorsy. I was trying to set up a shot of this year's Forum Knife on an old bird book when Pipp walked in on it!
