traditional knives in movies

This is basically my favorite thread on the forum. Maybe this weekend ill scan through for some gems to watch. I will say it is difficult to come across enough knife content in entertainement to satisfy me. I often find myself wishing I could watch something with a lot of slipjoint action. Any recommendations are welcome.

Might be posted already
But I'm not going to search 40 pages

Is the search function on the new forum software that bad? 😉

For what it’s worth, it took me about 10 seconds to find it, and you “liked” the post. 😁

Doesn't even fit the "movie" category, but I figure commercials are close enough. ;)

I think commercials are fair game. There have been a few before.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)

This one has also been posted before. I remember thinking how odd the blade looked in that last shot compared to the previous one. It has to be a completely different prop. The blade in the first shot is a normal looking drop point, while the blade stuck in the table looks more like a spike, and is way too slim for the handle.

I haven't actually seen this movie, but this scene was mentioned in something else I was watching, and I happened to notice the knife and was able to find the movie streaming so I could grab the screenshot. What looks like a Buck 110/112 knockoff stamped "Stainless China" is used in the opening scene of Vertical Limit.

I don't know if there are any other knives in the movie, but having now watched the opening scene, I don't know that I'll be watching more to find out. 🙄 😁

Child’s Play 3 (1991).

Ending scene features a wood-handled lock back pocket knife. Looks kinda like a Buck 500 series knife, but most likely isn’t, and the blade looks like a clip point. IIRC, the main character had originally given the younger kid the knife as a gift (it’s been decades since I’ve seen the movie).

Can anyone identify this fixed blade? Caught it in the new Taylor Sheridan directed film Those Who Wish Me Dead starring Angelina Jolie.

Those deer tracks and what appears to be a signature stamped on the blade seem pretty distinctive, but I’ve looked around a bit and haven’t been able to find anything. The shape of blade is very similar to this caping knife made by Knives of Alaska.

Schrade/Uncle Henry also made (makes?) a caping knife with the same blade shape.

On a side note, how'd you get such a clear screen grab? I even tried sandboxing it, and HBOMAX has some sort of blocker in place. .?

Did a screenshot on my phone from a VOD rental. We don't have HBO Max in Canada.

I always remembered seeing this Timex commercial back in the late ‘70s. Oddly enough, I think I only saw it twice. I’m surprised I was able to find it again. I can’t really tell what brand or model it is, but it almost looks like a Camillus, or a Schrade/Old Timer, maybe a trapper model?

The show "To Catch a Smuggler" is full of knife shots as they open packages. Naturally alot of tactical knives but it's like knife porn some weeks

Here are a couple traditional knives that appear in the movie Stand by Me.

The first is a stag-handled fixed blade worn in a leather sheath on a gang member’s belt.

The second is a stiletto-style switchblade brandished by gang leader Ace (Kiefer Sutherland). This knife was actually mentioned in the second post in this thread, but since that post didn’t include a photo (and was almost 9 years ago) I think it’s fair game. 😁

I’d say, theoretically speaking, that perhaps all of the movie’s main characters (four twelve-year-old boys in 1959) probably had some sort of boys’ knife or scout knife in their pockets, but unfortunately those weren’t included in the movie. 😉

I've just finished watching Clarkson's Farm, Jeremy Clarkson's new show about running the 1,000 acre farm he owns in the Cotswolds. I know Clarkson isn't everyone's cup of tea, but the show is really quite good and I'd highly recommend it.

In one episode, Jeremy can briefly be seen using a puukko to pick some vegetables.

I've flipped past that. I assumed it was about cars.
