Training Spear?

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask for some input on something.
Currently I've been kicking around the idea of making a training spear.
And it seems to me that there are two common sizes. The first is an overall length of 3 feet and the other is the standard 6 feet length.
Now besides the kung fu spears that are out there, do you think there would be an interest in a training spear? And what length do you think would be more likely to be trained with the 3 footer or the 6 footer?
I'd really appreciate any input that you would be willing to offer.

I'm going to guess the 6-foot would be more popular.

I remember when some of the guys took out the aluminum training knives and tied them to the ends of staffs for spear practice. They bent the knives and nicked them up real good during throwing exercises.

I'm interested to see what you come up with.
And... I'd be more than willing to test the prototype for you! :D

Since you mentioned kung fu, six feet is still a little short. You might want to make the head easy to attch and let the buyer supply their own shaft. Or have that as an option.

This is a link to the prototype. It's made, but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.

I tried to make sure that it was strong. The shaft is a full inch in diameter. The aluminum actually runs down almost the entire length of the handle wrap itself (about 7 inches).

Any comments would be very welcome.
