I have had this pack for over a year now. It has been with me to several states, had many adventures in the hill, and has been used to haul my teaching aids. I have kept it in my truck loaded for bear while driving through a blizzard and carried it deer hunting on cross country skis. I LOVE IT!!

One of my favorite thing about it is the ability to add or take off pouches and pockets. If I need my FR-1 on a overnighter, just take off the tac ties and your good to go. Another thing I an fond of is the construction of it. it is rock solid. The zippers are bomb-proof, it is well padded, and the cordura that it is made with is heavy duty.

I have added 4 different pouches and a simple axe hanger. If I had to I could do several night out of this set up.

Here it is fully loaded

I can over kit and contents at a later date if someone wants me to.

The modularity of the Max products sure is a bonus to be able to add and remove pieces as required. I think I still might end up with a Falcon or the like but for my last pack I ended up going with a Kelty Redwing just because I can put all of the stuff inside the pack and if I have free space, I can cinch it down tight. Having separate pouches for FAK items, fire kit, or whatever sure would be handy at times though!

Nice pack!

Looking good  I watched your video on it as well and it seems like a great pack. Really great how you can add or subtract the extra pouches to suit your trip. That makes more sense than what I have ended up doing in acquiring several packs over the years, and having to unload one and load my stuff into a different pack if I'm going from dayhike into a couple nights out.

I don't think it was mentioned but how are you carrying water in this setup? Just curious as I have the same pack and I'm debating on carrying my canteen on a outside pouch.

Pretty cool set up, Terry. Maxpedition makes some great stuff.
It really is neat to be able to add and subtract pouches from your main pack.

This is a different pack. Same way I carry it though.

Thanks everybody for the comments.

I've got the falcon II, it's been my go to pack and I've been really happy with it. I have been thinking about getting a condor though just so I could carry a little bit more gear. Nice setup, I'd be interested to see what you pack into it.

I have a Condor II also. It's a nice pack.

I'm interested in seeing your FAK. Mine needs improving and I'm looking for ideas.

I had a Condor-II and thought it was a pretty great pack. I ended up coming back to the Falcon-II for my uses and preference, but I would have kept the Condor-II as another option or BOB if I had money to let sit.

Expanding on the sides with pouches is the way to go if you're into adding pouches. Less effect on balance and carrying load on the shoulders.

I love my condor 2.I keep a mishmash of different stuff on my pack.I seem to have acquired a bunch of Maxpedition stuff over the years and almost all of it is on my Condor 2.
Here's a rough list:
ESEE Junglas on the left side.A barnacle just above that.
maxpedition medical pouch on the bottom right.
Army surplus canteen pouch on the top right.
Back bottom pouch i have the triad administration pouch
top pouch i have my large rolly polly and a tube sheath.

Anyone ever take the "Y" strap off. I just got mine the other day. I like the pack, but the strap seems like over kill? Seems like it would be annoying to have to open it everytime. Does it really help out that much or make much of a difference if it is off?

Anyone ever take the "Y" strap off.

My 2 sons carry the Condor II as school backpacks, and we have removed the Y straps as they just sorta get in the way. I could see someone using the strap if they really wanted to compress the pack, but we don't need that.

You guys may be rough on your packs in the woods, but I see the daily abuse that two boys can inflict as the ultimate reliability test, and these two packs have held up very well for at least 2 or 3 years now.

I love the Y strap. Good place to stick a jacket or fleece if you wanna take it off for a bit. Wet clothes too. Ive even used it to secure my sleeping pad.

I love it too. I thought it was annoying at first because you have to undo it everytime you want unhindered access to the compartments. But you get used to it, and the utility makes up for it. Like Jake, I use it often to carry a jacket, towel, helmet, tarp, etc. for quick access. Mostly I use it to hold layers if I heat up while hiking.

Although I have never had issue with the Y strap I do have issues with the short straps on the bottom of the pack.I can barely and I mean BARELY get a bedroll to secure down there. The straps are just too short.I'm looking for a suitable strapping to sew on and extend them by about 6".
