Actually SOG has done so..in a way. In 2006 they ended their 20 year relationship with Hattori in Seki and started making the classic S1/S2 bowies in Taiwan. Unfortunately it appears that the SOG fans did not take well to this cost driven change, making the older Seki models collector models.
