Trip to Michael Hoover's shop - Fox Island, Washington

Friends & Fellow Redrummd / Art in Stone Fans,

I had the privilege to visit the Michael Hoover's stone knife shop again today as I have many other times in the past. The photographs taken by Darrell Gulin are amazing! If you are the owner of a knife that has a matching photo, you simply MUST buy it (as I did today)! Simply amazing!

Michael's stunning assortment of very rare & beautiful stone has grown significantly since his recent rock hounding journeys. There are several new additions to his collection which Mike graciously allowed me to photograph today. I also took several photographs of my trip, Michael's shop, & Fox Island today so you could come along on a "virtual" trip... enjoy.

It was nice visiting today.

For those wondering - The green stone in the saw is a piece of Polar Jade. The brown big slab is from the new Badger Den find. I also found a huge agate deposit on the east side of the draw the Badger Den Jasper is in. So the Jasper is on the west side of the draw.

The agate deposit is in pieces weighing tons. I found one small piece that weighed 80 to 100 pounds and carried it up the draw. The agate is solid and a mix of mostly browns and whites but there is a red vein further into the stone. It will be about a week before I get to that vein as I can only cut 3 to 4 slabs off the piece a day due to its huge width.

It has some whispy plumes and a lot of rolling patterns that should look great on knives. I just need to take time to get a few photos up.....

The picture stone with the dark sky is either Black Sky Owyhee or Disaster Peak Jasper I beleive. My partner knows where it is from and will be out to the shop to help ID a few pieces in a couple of weeks. It is from the collection we moved last weekend and he knows almost all of what was in the mix.

The other ones are Badger Den with the Yellows and Gary Green with the Green. Gary Green is found about a mile west of where I found the Badger Den Jasper.

Thanks for the great photos and taking time to post them. I always appreciate photos. You are truly a loyal Redrummd fan and supporter. Mike, that is a nice looking Pietersite.....can't wait to see the finished Pietersite Art in Stone.
