I posted the start of the trout cakes on an SPS about a month or 2 ago and I finally got pictures of the finished product. These are my not yet famous Trout cakes......Hope you enjoy, you won't as much as I did:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::cool:

You can bring some of those by my house anytime. Can you make a big batch and then freeze them?

Hey Steelhead,

Those look delicious. Can you post the recipe (if you haven't already)? And how do you like the Buck kitchen knives? I've been trying to convince my wife we need them to replace our old ones with those.

Bert - we make cakes, or cutlets as my wife calls them, out of catfish and freeze them and then cook them up as needed. They are a perfect last minute supper idea.

Best,
Matthew

Holy hungry! Thanks for the new recipe. I can Cook mean French toast, eggs , and any meat and veggies that can go on a grill. Now I can add this. 🙏

I call them not so famous, because this is only my second batch. The first batch consisted of 5 smoked trout which turned into 10 cakes and those were gone fast. The second batch was 11 trout and 23 cakes. I froze the last 6 and plan on eating the in the next few days, I'll let you know if they turn out, should be fine. The recipe I half stole was for crab cakes, but I tweeked a bit. That recipe said good to freeze unwrapped till hard, then freezer bag, then oven at 375 8-10 minutes, and as good as new. We'll see.

For the recipe, I can only focus on the Cavs right now and the brain is not working. I'll post to the best of my ability tomorrow!

Thanks for the post Steelhead. Enjoy the game and good luck to your Cavs.

Those look very tasty Mike. Never had trout cakes but we do make a killer salmon roll that is to die for. Pickled salmon is even better. I can eat myself sick on them both.

Guess I need to try trout cakes next.

My entire family absolutely loves sea food and for Fathers Day we are all going over to my Fathers for a sea food feast. There will be trout, prawns, salmon, steelhead, scallops, lobster, tilapia, razor clams steamer clams and more. Everyone brings something different.

Here are a few lobster I just picked up.

Wow all of that fishy stuff looks great, you guys need to bring it to sunny California and feed this poor guy!!!! You can enjoy the =100 deg weather and chill next to the pool while you cook;)

That sure looks tasty. The lobster especially. I have never had a SteelHeed. Sounds like it would make a cool knife name too.

Those smoked trout look good. I usually fillet them and smoke to an almost jerky like texture. I think I'll smoke some whole to try your recipe.

Those look yummy! After I taught my wife to catch trout, she learned to make cutlets and they are wonderful.
