I found an old True Temper Kelly Axe Works Black Raven Axe head in a barn. I know they can be a decent amount, I recently had someone offer me $500 for it. Should I take the deal? Are these axe head rare?

They are not super rare but they always pull a nice price these days. I would not be surprised to see one fetch $500 on that online auction site. Maybe more for a very nice one.

I would never buy one from the auction site because it's been flooded by fake reproductions. And the fakers have become quite good. I'll hold out to find one in a barn like you did.

keep it, then you can say you have one and not a fake.like the old i-phone ad a few years ago. if you don't have a i-phone well you don't have an i-phone.
Same thing, if you don't have a kelly black raven well you don,t have a kelly black raven!!!

People mostly want them for the etch, anyway. They were a good grade of axe, but it's just one of numerous marks that Kelly used for their nicest and second-nicest lines of axes (whether it belonged to the former or latter grade of heads depends on the period of production)

Unless it's nearly perfect I'd see how far I could raise the price, then take the money and run. If it's in real good condition then yeah, they are neat and collectible and whatever - worth keeping to have. But if you really don't care, that's a nice pay day.
