Hello, I was looking into potentially purchasing a TSPRof K03 Pro Hunter but there was a few questions I had about it, especially about the clamps and calibration.

When it comes to the newer models of the TSprof K0 platform, Do they require calibration? I've seen that they have calibration plates which are just flat pieces of steel that you use to rest the axicube on, however I've also seen some older videos that show that you have to calibrate not just the spring clamps but a few other pieces as well, is this still the case?

What clamps should I look at getting besides what it comes with?, The single clamp looks like it would be useful for smaller knives.

Does the K03 pro have a stone thickness compensator built into it?

Does it come with Electroplated diamond stones or Venev bonded stones?

Is there anything else I should know before I pull the trigger on purchasing one?

None of the single-piece, whole-milled clamps need calibration.

Since whole-milled clamps come with the unit, the only thing that needs calibrating is the Axicube digital angle finder, and it will have its own calibration piece

Watch this video from TS Prof to see the use cases for whole-milled clamps vs spring clamps:

I've only used whole-milled clamps, and an aftermarket magnetic table for small blades. I usually disassemble my folders to clamp the flat area around the pivot.

I think all the K03 kits come with electroplated diamond plates, and that's pretty standard. They work pretty good and are uniform in dimension, so you won't have to worry about thickness compensation while you are using them.

The K03 can do thickness compensation easily, although I never really see it talked about. The way it works is that the K03 has fine and coarse angle adjustment. The fine adjustment is the rack & pinion that you turn with a knob. The coarse adjustment is simply a pole that you unlock and pull up out of the gear rack.

Since the swiveling rod holder is part of the pole that you pull up, if you unlock the pole and drop the swivel on top of each stone you use and then lock it, you can include the thickness of each stone in your angle.

You only have a few mm of surface area on top of the gear rack to set the stones on, and doing this means you can't use the coarse adjustment for its intended purpose as the course adjustment. So I 3D printed some spacers to make the whole concept work better for me.

You can see what I mean better with the pictures I posted in this thread:

There has been an upcoming TS Prof K4 sharpener shown recently, but not much information on it.

With my K03 Pro Hunter, I've only used the whole-milled clamps that it came with. I did add a pair of the L-Adapters. No calibration required. The single clamp is very popular, but I can't justify one. I pretty much only sharpen folders with 3.25" to 3.75" blades. My K03 did not come with the Axicube and when I finally got one, I regreted not getting one sooner. It's way more convenient than using an Angle Cube type indicator. I used the plates that came with the sharpener for a while and they seemed ok. But I found the Venev Orion resin bonded to be much better. I think TSPROF has a premium resin bonded stone (Alpha?) now.
