turbo torch question

It looks like it has the same type of adjustable gimmick as the bernzomatic. But the bernzomatic has a hose...so you can stick in in a bucket of water to keep the tank from overchilling. I look at shipping charges and time in transit as a real pain- if I wanted something next week, I would order it next week, not today something not on sale in town can be had today. Even better if its on sale in town...

If there is a HF store in your area, and you don't care about the hose thing, I would just go get the HF torch (hopefully the meth heads left you one), unless there's an ace or home depot in your area and you want the hose- in that case, I would just cough up the 24.95 and get the bernzomatic instead of the norincomatic. Or if the hose thing isn't an issue and there is no HF store, get the TS8000 bernzomatic adjustable gimmick super duper extra big flame with push button start gimmick torch complete with mapp gas tank for 45.99 at home depot. I had the TS4000 but the push button gimmick crapped out on me...rather that just using my pencil torch to keep starting it, I got the TS8000 today. I will say that between the turbo with the hose and the TS4000, the hose model makes a cooler rushing noise powering the mini forge.

All good brands. If at all possible, use a hose fitted burner.
More freedom of movement, easier to clamp down on table, and as said you can put the can in a bucket of water to avoid freeze down that will rob you of pressure.

i being a plumber by trade have use bot the hose type and the push button type and even one that just had the adjuster on it and you light it with a lighter like you do the hose one. i loved having the hose one. but the push button one was faster. not to mention that my house one broke. it seems that the part where the tip screw on is a little more fragil. just so you know i have only been using mapp gas cause it gets hotter than propane. i have been soldering for years so if you want you can ask me about any of the 3 models i mentioned. i can tell you more about the advantages and disadvantages of each type in detail. if i were you i would just get the push button one. its the favorite of the majority of plumbers. you can never go wrong with a bernzomatic. i recommend that any of the types that you get should be bernzomatic. they hold up to abuse pretty well. right now im just using my push button.

Push button is definitely useful for soldering. Quick on, quick off.
But for forge use, you just turn it on once, and leave it on.
The hose allows you to position it more freely than a button one directly mounted on the can, and you can put the can in water, which is essential if you want to keep pressure up.
I strongly advice for a hose mounted burner. Just do the regular mainenance on the hose and junctions.
I used two Rothenberger N° 12 Turbo Burners and worked fine.
Made 4 knives and some tests with that system, and melt lead for my muzzleloaders :).

The listed accessories for the TS4000 and TS 8000 include a hose/adaptor. I might order them and make it a pushbutton hose model.
