Two part handle question

I have read some good pointers on building knife scales out of two different primary materials front and back with a spacer. I think I get the gist of it, but I had a thought that I dont recall seeing. What if the front handle pin bisected directly in the joint line of the two materials? Is it a bad idea? Too much stress? Likely to split? Or gtg?

I am considering a combo of black micarta, white spacer, and curly acacia in the back, probably with a 1/4 inch brass pin. Does micarta sanding stain light colored wood?

That would be the weakest possible joint. One pin in the front and one or two in the back. Nothing in the spacer. A liner under the scale assembly is also wise.
