Undetectable folding knife--Does such a thing exist?

By undetectable I mean undetectable by a metal detector. Undetectable by a microwave scanner (TSA style) would be desirable, but probably difficult.

I guess such a knife would have a ceramic blade and ceramic or carbon fiber handle.

I have searched online but could not find anything useful. Only ones I found were basically fixed blades.

Thanks.

They usually keep them with all the undetectable guns in the back at all the major sporting goods stores. Best thing to do is to go in and ask a salesman, and if he doesn't help you then demand to talk to the store manager.

You mean the undetectable salesman/store manager? :D Better yet, why don't we call DHS directly? :D

Relax, lots of us dream of the days before the government had to know what's in our pants. :)

germ65, welcome to Bladeforums! Without knowing what it's for, I'm not sure what to recommend. But there are kit knives, mostly for teaching youngsters about knives, that are made all of wood. Various plastics suggest themselves, in fact small fixed blades of plastic used to be popular as covert weapons. Not hard to convert most of them to folders.

And y'all wonder why noobs snap and go crazy on this forum like yesterday. As far as I'm concerned it's his God given right to ask such a question and own such an item if wanted. What he DOES with it is up to him and the corresponding laws of wherever he may be.

To answer the OP, I've seen some G10 blades made but again, they are usually a fixed blade. How functional are they is questionable. There's a reason knives are made of detectable steel.

Pretty harsh right out the gate.

Germ, cold steel makes a huge selection of plastic knives and daggers, I think they are grivory actually.

I don't suggest doing anything illegal as obviously that will land you in jail or prison.
His very first post too. LOL. Effin troll.

If you get caught on a plane, even with a plastic training knife like the ones Cold Steel makes, you will be getting arrested, just the same as trying to board a plane with a replica pistol. The TSA is not going to be taking any chances. Remember, we will not discuss anything that constitutes breaking the law, or how to break the law, or anything of the sort.

Okay, I admit it, I might have been premature. Let's hope I was. I'd like to hear the new member tell us what he wants it for. No obligation, just curious.

I'm hoping it's just a curious young man who has no real intentions on becoming an idiot criminal.

Agreed with rev.

The Knife Center has kits, for all plastic folders but they aren't good for anything besides looking like a knife.

How about a wooden Spyderco Dragonfly. But if you take it to the airport, expect TSA to say.... "Is that a two inch knife in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?" [emoji12]

Sorry, but I don't like the question. Metal detectors are there (wherever) for a reason. He's basically asking us to help him sneak a blade in to a court house or plane or whatever and I don't like it.

Germ65: A Simple Google search for "undetectable pocket knives" brought up a large number of sources who will sell them to you. So clearly they exist.

Seems like a lot of knives are out there if you google it. I would think anything with a wooden handle and ceramic blade would work. I'm thinking Opinel type knife but with ceramic blade.
If you google "Metal Free Knives", you can find threads years old about the same topic.

Even if this isn't a troll,,, maybe respond after a few hours???
I don't know why it irks me when someone posts a question,, gets 20 responses,, and doesn't answer back....
Oh well

There are some all Titanium knives that are made for EOD, but they're expensive and incredibly uncommon.
(Insert standard "Don't be an idiot and try to sneak it in somewhere illegally" statement here)
