Uneven laminate lines

I only ever had one other laminate blade spyderco. A caly 3 with cf and zdp. The lines were very evenly matched, size wise. I recently bought a hap40 delica and this isn't the case. The line on the clip side is twice the size of the presentation side.

I don't care about the ascetics, but will this affect the strength of the blade?
I'd appreciate any help/info.

Thanks

No problem with regards to strength or function. Think of it as your knife's unique "fingerprint".

sounds good to me.
Thanks for the info.

btw, i went to south africa for 3 weeks a couple years ago, amazing country.

Chalk it up to the luck of the draw. I have a number of laminated ZDP-189 knives. One or two have fairly symmetrical lamination lines, most do not.

What exactly is a laminate blade ? I've heard of them but not sure what it means.

It is a blade made from a steel sandwich. A better quality steel on the inside sandwiched between some cheaper steel (usually).

Ah , gotcha. Pretty cool concept. Now I wanna try one out.

Salmonkiller , cool vid.

Nice, where in SA have you been?

went to kruger and sabisand reserve for a week of safari.
simonstown for some shark cage dives.
then we just toured around for a week. wine country (frenchoek ?spelling?), some little resort town called agualis (spelling)
couple nights in cape town.

Nice! I live about 4 hours drive west of the Kruger National Park in Pretoria. I like the safari experience, but prefer the mountains and pretty surrounds of the Cape Town wine lands.

Seems like you prefer your animals with teeth... Do you also like serrated Spydies? :)

I've had a few but didn't keep any. Serrated blade on my leatherman works in a pinch. Ill scoop up a H1 spyderedge something before my next beach vacation.

I mused to hate uneven laminated lines and sold several knives because of this. But recently it stopped to bother me and I in love with my newly purchased Caly3 and Caly3.5.

Laminated blades are nothing new ! Vikings used it over 1000 years ago ! San Mai on the other hand is a made up term by Cold Steel !!

good stuff. Form follows function for me, in most cases. This will be a workhorse, so as long as it cuts, I'm happy.
thanks again for the info folks.
