Unfamiliar with Hoffner Knives

A friend of mine is looking to get a knife and he showed me the website for Hoffner Knives. Being a good friend, I searched them here but couldn't find anything on them. Has anyone had any experience with Hoffner Knives, their folders in particular? It seemed pretty basic: 440C steel, liner lock, G10 etc. The advertisement video I saw had a decidedly tactical marketing angle to it in which they describe how each feature will help in a fight and on and on. I'm wondering if people have experience with Hoffner or know about them and can comment on their build quality, ease of use, and other things we usually look for in a knife that my friend isn't looking at. In the meantime, I'll be looking at other alternative suggestions I can make to him.

I have a Hoffner fixed blade (hand spear) but have known Brian Hoffner peripherally for prob 24 years as he was an instructor in my agency's police academy. He wouldn't be breathing if he sold inferior products to the kind of guys he trains. He makes damn fine holsters also. The knives are all work. If you want a trophy piece it might not be for you, but if you want a good rugged defensive knife and like the index sockets on the handle (which I like) they are a great knife. Owning one makes yoy want to figure out how to CC a fixed blade. Its thicker than the prybar I have. The scales are very grippy but i am on his FB feed and it looks like they have some new scales with a chiseled look and some new folding knife options coming out from their SHOT show posts.. I'll be getting one of his folders sometime with black plain blade and khaki scales!

Thanks for your input. I really couldn't find anything on them and your comment is a good bit of info. I may just tell my friend to go for it if he likes it and then take a look for myself when he gets it.
