What's going on yall??

Well recently Ive been interested in getting one and Ive read up on it a little and it lookedlike about the best tomahawk I could get so I went ahead a snagged one over at BudK, even got 25% off via a promo code they had.

I wonder if any of yall own one of these B.A. pieces of weaponry and what you think of it??

Is it easy to sharpen??

Is it good quality??

I dont really plan on cutting wood with it as I have tools for that already but how would it do cutting emergency firewood??

Ultimately, this is kind of going to be my "back up for my back up" last chance defense weapon. How would it handle that??

I wanna here the good, the bad, the ugly, whatever yall got I wanna hear it. Thanks!

From what I've heard, quality is hit or miss. Handles have a tendancy to break, as when they're formed sometimes air bubbles form in the plastic and create a weakness. It's a stainless steel, and not a great one at that. As a backup of a backup of a backup it'd probably be O.K but I'd have gone for the Cold Steel tomahawk, as I've heard a bit more positive stuff about those and they're carbon steel.

Yeah I have heard some negative factors about the handle and etc. However I do have to say, a tomahawk, particularly a tactical tomahawk, isnt a throwing weapon. I mean it seems, from what I've seen and heard on web reviews, that most of the handle breaks are from throwing something that doesnt seem to be designed to be thrown. I could be wrong but it just kinda seems to me that, sure, there very well could be a material defect like bubbles like DarthTaco123 mentioned. However Id think throwing it is kind of "pushing it". And then of course I could be crazy, I dont know :P

Not sure if you already purchased one, But don’t. There are others on this site that have stated it is a pice of crap to throw at anything, as well as I. Now if your looking into getting something to kill a zombie or chop an intruders head in half, maybe do some killing of an animal, then it is great! It looks cool and will lop your arm off in a moment.
I threw it at a tree ten times trying to get it to stick. On the 11th time it snapped in half below the tang of the head. I noticed this is a reoccurring event with other users. I’m looking to send it back as soon as possible. Have any ideas on where it goes, I purchased it on Amazon from some crazy seller. Thanks.

I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from Bud K. As far as the hawk goes.......it's a cheap piece if junk. If someone who has one and likes it, then great, but I'm calling a spade a spade. Low quality materials that have a proven track record of failing.

I looked at the M48 and the S.O.G. --My full size S.O.G. hawk seems indestructible! I process wood, quarter deer, dig in the yard.....all the things I probably shouldn't. In Yellowstone my daughters tossed it for hours for entertainment and it is still in great shape. Everything I have ever known with M48 on it is cheap quality and marketed for zombie killers.

Yeah I haven't heard great things but it looks cool and that's mostly what its for. United cutlery can be pretty hit or miss. I'd probably wrap the handle right under the head with paracord or something, since a lot of the tomahawk breaks I've seen were from it striking there rather than the actual head itself. That's what I did with my Sog Fasthawk. I haven't held one, but the M48 does look a bit big for a thrower so I'd probably mostly chop with it. If you're just making kindling or something it'll probably be fine.

Hey all,
So when i saw this thread, i had to register just so i could comment. Yesterday, when i picked up one of these things-- I was instantly taken with it. I just had to throw it. And once I did, I was like , 'hell yeah, this is my new SHTF back-up weapon right here- Well let me say that today(After the 24 hour love affair.) I have decided to change my weapon of choice so as not to become potential zombie-food. Really if you just plan on using it as a back-up, back-up, it will certainly get the job done- great one and done weapon, but i wouldnt think of it as much more than the donut tire of blades. I threw mine approx. 75-100 times maybe. (not really hard, and into log before it snapped upon impact, and revealing the major flaw in design. It is definitely not designed to be used heavily or relied upon. i am gonna try to post up some pics -- anyways, just thought I'd pass the experiance along -love to all-
