Do we know what the configuration will be for the upcoming Manix 2 in “crucarta”? When they did the crucarta pm2 it had full size liners which from my understanding meant you could not swap for other scales.

So, do we know what the case will be for the crucarta Manix 2?

From Spyderco website:
https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details/C101MCW2/Manix-reg-2-Brown-Canvas-Micarta-CPM-CRU-WEAR/2482
"All feature skeletonized full stainless steel liners, slim brown canvas Micarta scales, and CPM CRU-WEAR tool steel blades that offer an outstanding balance of edge retention and toughness"
Thank you! That’s disappointing. I really want a Cruwear Manix 2 (not lightweight) but I’ve read a lot of complaints about Spyderco’s Micarta. Many people like it but too many fit and finish complaints for my liking.

I saw numerous people on YouTube complaining of mismatched scales, loose scales, colors not like the product photos, etc.

I think by and large Spyderco has strong QC, but I’ve seen some unfortunate stuff leave the American factory and they don’t consider it warranty eligible since it’s basically cosmetic. I’m sure most of their stuff is great but from what I’ve seen, not being able to swap scales isn’t without some potential risk.

If your buying a Crucarta Spyderco knife, why would you want to swap scales?

It is cheaper to buy the knife from Spyderco already put together than buying after market scales for it.

Define "numerous" please. Preferably as a percentage of all the thousands of Spyderco micarta knives out there.

I am confused by that last sentence, especially in regard to the Manix2 which does not have nested liners.

My mistake. I’m new to Spyderco and saw that the pm2 crucarta has different liners than standard version so I assumed it was true for the manix 2 as well.

So does that mean any manix 2 (not lightweight) can fit 3rd party scales?

I have the PM2 Crucarta and absolutely zero complaints on the fit and finish. The only real gripes I’ve seen are that the Micarta is quite a bit lighter than it appears in some photos and that it flexes some on the lock side. It is light, but it feels great and colors in quickly with use. The very slight flexing just doesn’t affect me in the slightest. I’ve modded nearly every knife I’ve bought but my PM2 was perfect out of the box (besides that damn clip). I’ll definitely be picking up a Crucarta Manix 2.

I had a crucarta, it had great fit and finish, only problem was the micarta sucking the dye out of my blue jeans. I ended up with a smooth G10 cruwear PM2 and haven't looked back
