Good morning! (A retired army guy should know the answer to this question, but...)

Did the army issue a Ka-Bar knife to any of its soldiers in WWII? Or ever?

We often see USMC Ka-Bars but I don't see army ones. I'm actually looking at a USMC vintage Ka-Bar on ebay right now but would rather have an army one if such exists.

Thanks

Steve

To my knowledge,

The army was never issued Ka-Bars. Only the USMC was issued them. Ka-Bar produces an army model for collectabillity.

Am not 100% sure, but during WW2 I beleive most of the knives were USN. I'll be interested in what others have to say.

My dad came home from WWII after serving in the European and Asain theaters with a 30-06 Springfield and an 8mm Mauser rifles and a USMC KA-BAR knife, he was a Lt, in the Army, he always said that the knife was his in the service. He's gone now so I can't ask him. I still have them all.

Could you post some pics please? Tks.

The Army has never issued the KaBar. Only the USMC and Navy. That doesn't mean some Army guys didn't pick one up somewhere.

One of my uncles was in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific in WWII, and he traded "smokes" (which he did not use) to Marines for a knife and his revolver plus more "smokes" for a 1911. So gear moved around regardless of the TO&E.
