I was given my navy sword by my wardroom when I was promoted to commander in the US Navy. I never had a chance to wear it ceremoniously but it was an honor to receive one. I saw that Cold Steel made their own rendition of the US Naval Officer Sword/Sabre. The advantage is that it can be sharpened. The brass has a nice antique look and it has a lot of character when compared with the bright reddish brass of my Vanguard from Spain. The markings on the sword are different, the size of the guard and the size of the fittings on the scabbard are, too.
It would still be acceptable for regulations. I prefer the Cold Steel because of its antique finish though the engravings are not identical or similar.
I wouldn't use this for a military wedding though. Cutting the bride and groom would be unacceptable.
I figured this would help some of my fellow naval officers who were looking at the Cold Steel swords.
