Uses for the spatula blade?

I bought my first one a few weeks ago and have not yet found a use for the spatula.

I wanted the spatula because it seems like it is a more 'authentic' blade for this pattern, and I am glad I got it.

That said, I'll be looking for another Doctors knife because it's a nice size and look for gentlemens knife (and I need all the class I can get). I'm going for a single blade or a small pen for the secondary, either of which will probably get more pocket time than my present one. AG Russell has a version with a small scalpel for the secondary which also has appeal.

Doctors used them for mixing medicines, now a fairly obsolete activity!!
Artists use spatulas for textured paintings and other artistic endeavors; Mixing paint and powders among others!! Cutlers made folding spatulas on their own as well as for use in Dr. knives!! Spatulas 1.jpgSpatulas 2.jpg

Most spatulas are quite flexible! I'm not sure a sharp edge is appropriate!!🤔
I agree. Mine gets quite thin and flexible as it gets closer to the tip. It would be hard to sharpen and I don't think it would make a good cutting blade.

If the tip didn't protrude when closed, you could maybe square it off and make it like a chisel/scraper. That could have some very light-duty uses. But given the way it sits when folded, that wouldn't be a good idea.

Be OK for putting old fashioned putty into window frames...measuring out spices in cooking or illegal substance manufacture ;)

The blade is an interesting anachronism and still looks very cool and smart

I’ll tell you who needs a sharpened spatula, it’s Casey Ryback

I love that movie. Ryback could probably kill by spitting toothpicks.

I'm surprised somebody uses the spatula blade for a paint pallet knife. I would have thought it too small and stiff. I use frosting spreaders.
