Using a scroll saw to cut G-10?

Okay, due to G-10 being very bad to breath in i'm looking for a way to cut nice lines rather than grinding all the time. I only want to grind the final couple thousands to the blade or handle....

I'm also staying away from machining the various handle shapes.

Has anyone tried using a scroll saw to cut G-10....what was the outcome?

I've been looking at the Dewalt heavy duty scroll saw but i'm wondering if
G-10 is too tuff to cut with such a small blade like the scroll uses

Thanks for any advise.....

If you're looking to buy something for cutting g-10, go for a bandsaw. Even a smaller bandsaw with a metal cutting blade will cut it alright. So do coping saws actually if you want to save some money. But yeah, scroll saw may work, but not well.

My experience has been that anything less than a metal cutting blade dulls extremely quickly.

I have used the dewalt scroll saw at school a couple of times, and even though I have only cut wood, I don't think you will be happy with it on anything harder than oak. It cuts pretty slow but makes an nice tight turn. I think that it will be too wimpy and wear out the blade very fast.

Any way you do it you will release formaldehyde though with saw berhaps somewhat less.

I thought the formaldehyde gas was from micarta and phenolic resin, not epoxy G10? I would be more worried about the glass fibers anyways.

I think that G10 will be "grabby" on a scroll saw in thin sections, you might get away easier with thicker pieces (3/16"+), if you can cut them.

how would a "wet" tile saw work for g-10 for cutting slabs off of a big chunk? hard to get a straight cut with the band saw..
