I recently purchased and restored an 8lb sledge hammer with USM stamped on underside of head. I’m not familiar with this company, although I think it was around in the 80s. Are USM hammers good/bad/decent?

Is it USM or US and then an M ?
Is the US stamped inside a deep circle?
Is there also a 2 digit date stamped into it, or a safety goggle warning?

Thanks for responding. It’s a “USM” stamped inside a circle along with an “8”, which is also inside the circle. The USM are in a semicircular pattern and the 8 is under the USM. “Wear Safety Goggle” is stamped on opposite side of sledge, also on under side. Nothing indicates a date.

I've seen a few drilling hammers with the same markings that have the same handle yellow composite handle you can get on a Barco industries and they did / do own the Kelly trademark which was found on some 80's axes with these markings so there could be a connection to them?

Barco does not use markings like that these days so it may not be them.

Never mind, it's definitely not Barco.
I forgot that they always stamped a B and a triangle on their hammers or at least they do on what I have.

That’s it as pictured on the worthpoint site. Thank you much. Can you advise what USM stands for? Is it a rare find? I’m finding very little online. Thank you again for your information.
