Picked up a USN MK 3 MOD 0 yesterday at a pawn shop for $25.00. Has plastic sheath, but no box, shoe string lanyards or belt clip. Has not been sharpened and only wear is on the blade from sliding in and out of the sheath. Grips are LNIB.Pommel has lost some of its dark coloring, but otherwise, knife appears to be in perfect condition. Would like to learn a little about this particular knife model and how did I do on the $25.00 price? Basically collect the Shark family of Case knifes and some auto Protec's, but this just got my attention for $25. and couldn't leave the shop without it. Hope to hear from some of the experts on this site.

I had a used one for years. Someone wanted it for $50.00. So you did very well on the price. Do a quick search on ebay for that model and see what they're going for now.

I believe Ontario makes it. There is an older version with a precarious tip on the blade that seems as though it will break off if you look at it wrong. Then there is an updated version with a much more sturdy looking blade.

When I did have and researched that piece I was not into knives at all. I did however find a lot of information about it that I pretty much dismissed. Just do a search on the internet and you'll find everything you need to know.

I never liked that knife. Even now that I'm into blades, I do not like it. I always remember it being heavy and seemingly unbalanced. It was never sharp either. I would take the USMC KA-Bar with a leather sheath over that any day day of the week.

That's just my opinion of course...

newknif: Thank you for the reply. It is appreciated. Have a feeling the one I picked up is an "older version". The tip is very thin and appears it would snap off quite easily. Blade itself is not sharp and overall knife is on the heavy side. Will Google it on the internet and check out e-bay for asking prices. Have not handled the USMC KA-BAR, but have heard positives about it.
Don't really need it, but it was cool looking, $25.00 bucks, so I gave it a home. Guess it is all part of the craziness when You enjoy knifes. Again thanks !!
