I've searched on the net for some information regarding this, and it seems like this mailing service (First Class Package International Service) does not support tracking, outside of the US and Canada?

So, I was wondering, how much tracking info within the U.S does it receive? I believe this was sent from the U.S, and the "Status Of Item" has been on "Electronic Shipping Info Received" for several days now; and the sender claims to have sent it, and that this number is only a receipt confirmation number, which only gets updated when USPS registers the number as belonging to a package.

Does anyone have any more information regarding this?

Use USPS Flat Rate International Packages
They provide tracking until it leaves USA

Ive shipped outside of USA dozens of times without 1 issue.. JUST time varies to where it lands
Took about 5-6 weeks to Russia

On goods I have ordered from U.S.A ,the tracking stops once U.K customs have cleared the packets.

Hi jac_solar,

First Class International (FCI) does support tracking to a few other countries outside of Canada and the U.S, but there are conditions.
Look -> http://pe.usps.com/text/imm/immc2_022.htm

Postage MUST be paid online per ^ (through USPS Click-N-Ship, Paypal, eBay, Stamps.com, etc.).

These countries currently support tracking for FCI:
Australia, Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, Brazil, Israel, Canada, Netherlands, Croatia, New Zealand, Denmark, Spain, France, Switzerland.

These countries will be adding tracking for FCI sometime in 2014 :
Estonia, Finland, Gibraltar, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Portugal and Singapore

With that said, "Electronic Shipping Info Received" means that the shipper printed the label. This may stay in this status for a few days before updating with tracking. Then again, I have seen situations where tracking was never updated (both for domestic and international shipments). Most international shipments arrive within a 10 - 21 days however, I have had parcels take longer than 3 months to arrive.

If you live in a country that does not support tracking, this should be the last update you see: "Processed through USPS Sort Facility" A country that supports tracking for FCI should have an update after this one typically starting with "Customs Clearance" and then it should show it's movement through the receiving country until it is "Delivered".

Hope this helps,
Rob

Hm, ok, thanks guys. If the case is indeed that the shipper has already delivered the items to USPS, then USPS should word their explanation a bit differently in my opinion. It says, "The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified on January 21, 2014 to expect this package for mailing.". That straight up says that they haven't gotten the package, and they've only been notified to EXPECT the package.

This last line is the first thing that happened and only means the shipper has paid for and printed a label. The second thing to happen is "acceptance" this means they have physically dropped it at a USPS facility and it has been entered into the tracking system.
I know this is not an international example but it works the same way.

Yeah, I thought so too, since the USPS information directly states that it's only been "notified" that it should "expect" a package, not that it has received a package. However, under features, this says "International Letter", which might work differently? The seller has told me the twice that the package has been sent, and that this is not a tracking number, it's a "confirmation number".

The item in question was bought from the popular auction site, from a US based seller with 100% positive feedback (977 positive feedback.), with a "top rated seller" emblem.

I just think it's a bit weird, since the tracking page HAS information, but it's only "Electronic Shipping Info Received" which indicates that USPS is still waiting for the package, so it does offer some sort of package information.

I don't want to accuse the seller of trying to deceive me by only giving me a shipping number when I'm not even sure of what the information on the USPS page is supposed to mean.

I've seen the tracking info say "Electronic Shipping Info Received" all the way to my doorstep. Most of the time the actual info is there but occasionally is doesn't update for whatever reason.

First Class without Registered, is a hit or miss in my opinion unless you are in one of the countries' where tracking is actively provided. I have had similar experience with USPS "expecting" a package from the shipper, when it was delivered to me. Typically time is about 2 to 3 weeks anywhere with First Class, and if it does not turn up after 3 weeks, I'll start asking questions. Meanwhile, I do not ever ship First Class without Registered - Registered costs $13 approx., but it is so worth it, if the destination country has a similar concept (most countries do). Slow, but sure, never go without Registered option if you are shipping First Class international (I actually prefer it to Priority Mail International).
