Vanguard Inbound

Well, after many years of considering. I finally pulled the trigger and have a Cabelas Alaskan Guide Vanguard headed my way!

Been pondering this one for years.

What one did you get, Rubber or Rosewood version? Many photos when you have it in hand!

that's one model I dont own any of yet. keep hoping for a redo of the longer blade version, so I keep waiting.

Congrats! Very classic hunting knife design and size. One of the great knife values out there. I have the rubberized grip version 692. Very practical but sometimes I eye some nice wood or elk antler handles. Can’t go wrong with any Vanguard. Alaskan Guide with the upgraded steel is even nicer.

got one myself but hate the factory sheath! Awesome knife!

You will like it a lot. They are really nice, I got one about 4 years ago and I’m very glad I did. I got the rosewood handle on mine. And after putting some mink oil on the sheath it’s a good setup. I also got the 110 to match and it’s my favorite for outdoors activities.

I went with the wood handled version. Although I stared at the rubberized version for a while. Much of my existence is in Adirondack winter.

Well, It was here when I got home. Lots going on so not a lot of time. But initial impressions are good. Nice blade shape. Good balance, nice handle Ergos.
