Does anyone know about this brand? I found a great deal on the Astra II and the Terkum I, and I'm wondering if either of them is worth consideration. Thanks!

its a German company and they are well known here.

they mostly make bike and outdoor stuff

they have all sorts of quality products ranging from tents over clothing to gear

if the pack fits and has the features you want go for it

I knew that the company was more popular in Europe than here in the US. I'm glad to hear that their stuff is high quality. I bought the Astra online today. Hopefully it fits well. It has an adjustable frame so I'm not too worried.

They have no following in the US but it is a well established brand of gear. No familiar with new stuff but I sold some of their gear in the past at a store I worked at.
Besides almost all this stuff is made in a few factories in Asia. So the packs may have been side by side in the same plant with bigger names like North face etc.

Thanks. That's also good to hear. Kinda like how sanrenmu and spyderco produce in the same set of factories! Sadly almost all packs are made in China nowadays, but at least most of them are produced to the same standards.

Vaude is wellknown here in the Netherlands too. I currently use their Pala 20 for short hiking trips and for canoe trips. They make good quality packs.

Their packs used to be excellent when I was using them about 20 years ago. In particular they had a set of waterproof roll top packs that were very, very good, long since discontinued. Very good European brand. But it always boils down to the particular pack.
