Veritas green honing compound.

I just got my veritas green honing compound from lee valley tools and I am not quite sure how to apply it to my leather. This is how it comes http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&p=32984&cat=1,43072 . Do I just rub it on the leather like a giant crayon or do I melt it down, add some water and rub it in with my hands? Thanks.

Just rub it on the leather. I've used it for a long time although mainly on my woodworking chisels. Good stuff.

Just rub. You can apply a drop of mineral oil on the stick or on the leather. Helps it stick better. It is a bit of a pain, till you have a light coat.

I crunch some up and put it in a film case and add a little mineral oil to desolve in.Then use my finger to apply to hone.At the rate I,m using it it will last 4 life times.

i heat up the leather with a hair drier.. then rub it in.
it kinda melts it in abit and i rub in with a paper towel.

Wipe off the excess compound with a paper towel,then strop.
