Which one would you pick? For me it is a tough toss since the small blade seems very handy but the small philips screwdriver is also ever so useful..

Please assume no keyring on the pioneer. Since even if it had it I would remove it..

I would love to hear the ideas behind my traditional fellows..

I've used and can see using the can opener on the pioneer. I don't have to have the extra blade of the electrician.

For what it's worth, I'd rather have the Farmer over the Pioneer.

Personally, I prefer the Pioneer Rancher, with the short pruning/hawkbill blade in place of the canopener. But these were discontinued a few years ago, and the supply seems to have dried up.

I have the Electrician. I figured that I'd get more use out of the small sheepsfoot blade than I would out of the can opener.

I've just tonight ordered the Electrician because of the extra blade. It believe that a strong short blade will help me at work with the usual tasks like opening boxes, cutting tape and string and removing shrink-wrapped plastic. I don't seem to come across a lot of phillips screws.

By the way, I would very much welcome the keyring myself, but that's a matter of taste too, I suppose :)

Electrician, or better yet, Rancher if you can find one. I use a P38 to open cans and strike my ferro rod, don't need the opener on my knife.
Had them all, but Rancher is my EDC.

Electrician for me. I´d like to get with the sheepfoot blade more than the can opener. Being honest, the can opener is a pretty useless tool on a SAK - I´d prefer a second blade over the can opener.

I prefer the electrician because I could use the second blade during my day where as I almost never run into a can I just need to open right then and there. I don't usually need the small screwdriver either. If I was out camping and might use the can opener then get the pioneer or the farmer.

I don't really have a need for a can opener (yet), so I would probably go with the electrician for the secondary blade. If you tend to use the small screw driver on the can opener often, then go for the Soldier.

First I'd just like to ask: Why doesn't Victorinox just make the
obvious compensation and put the combo tool, such as found on
the Bantom, on the Pioneer? Then you'd have the can opener,
bottle opener and screwdriver...

Anyway, I personally really like having a can opener on me,
but I'd suggest getting the Electrician and a P-38 to go on
your key ring. A second blade is always a good thing.
Especially if this is going to be your only carry knife.

My favorite sak is the electrician and it's my edc so you know which I pick. For me the can opener is useless. I rarely eat canned food and when I do they're usually a pop top. It is 2013 after all. ;) Not to mention that if I'm hungry, a can isn't much of an obstacle. As for the philips head, you can actually use the corner of the flat head to tighten philips head screws. It doesn't work great but it does work. I keep the sheepsfoot blade at a high polish to use for detail work and it has come in handy more times then the can opener ever did. The round bit on the blade is also a good rough use blade. I use mine for scraping a firesteel. Works really well.

Edited to add that I have the soldier as well and I think it's in a box somewhere. I just never use it. ;)
