Hi guys!

I saw a Victorinox Ambassador without a keyring in our local Vic store. I was thinking of buying it so I was wondering if anyone here actually uses the Ambassador as an EDC. If you do, how do you find it?

Thanks.

I've carried the Ambassador for a while as an EDC and it works fine. It is a bit larger than the Classic, which makes it a bit easier to perform some cutting tasks like cutting fruit, and it is still very pocketable.

I have one and I carry it some. It is a nice thin and light pocket knife. The scissors work well and the blade is big enough to be useful. The nail file on mine is really good. Way better than the ones on the 84mm Vics.

I EDC black ambassador on my USB flashdisk... mine got a piano motif from the victorinox collection... i have more than a dozen of ambassador.. i much prefer it than classic... its my fav 74mm model...

i also got the red alox version in my wallet every day since its very2 thin... its like a money clip without the clip... its very2 useful...

i mod the scissor screw with hammer tap so its fix and wont get loose over time...

get one, it would be a nice add to your SAK collections... =)

Thank you for the replies! I was thinking of getting the Ambassador simply because I want the 74mm knives, but I think there are some redundancies or unneeded tools in the Executive. The two blades of the Executive could be replaced by a single one considering that both are really in the small blade category. The orange peeler seems to be very interesting but other than the screwdriver tip and the fact that it could be a good novelty for a fan of MacGyver like myself, I don't think I will get use from it that I can't also get from the blade. Also it kind of worries me that my screwdriver has a blade on the shaft. The longer and far better nailfile from the Executive could be replaced by the one on the Ambassador even though, let's face it, the latter pales in comparison. And both SAK's have scissors so they're equal in that department.

So I'm kind of convinced that the tools I will use the most from an Executive are also those that I can find from an Ambassador. Hence my inclination to buy the Ambassador over the Executive. Also, having no key ring near the blade might help.

I have both an Executive and Ambassador and like the Executive a little better, but that's just a matter of taste. The Executive is a bit heavier and thicker and I like it that the Executive has a small blade, that's useful as a backup blade and for precise cutting tasks. I've used the orange peeler a couple of times, for peeling oranges and it works fine, but it could be done with the blade too. Victorinox should make a variant of the Executive which has the combotool as found on the Rambler, which combines a philips screw driver and bottle opener. The small flat head screw driver could then be positioned on top of the file and the orange peeler could be removed.

I've been carrying Ambassadors for over 25 years- whatever is in my right pocket, there's always an Ambassador in my left. For me it's just enough bigger than the Classic to be much more useful, while still small and thin enough to be next to unnoticeable in my pocket.

I gave engraved Alox ones to my best man and ushers and regular ones to my son and nephew. To me, it's one of the best. I don't understand why they can be so hard to find sometimes.

When I had my Ambassador as an EDC, I had it on my keychain. Some don't like the keyring, but I do, since it enables me to attach the SAK with a quick release hook to a keychain or lanyard.

I carry an Ambassador on my work keys (of course mine has the keyring).
I find it an excellent SAK, considering its weight and bulk. It has everything I need in my work environment, and the extra length (compared to the Classic) makes it a little more comfy in use; this is especially true with scissors: the extra length makes alot of difference.
If I had to carry it in my pocket, I would prefer it with no keyring. I bought mine especially for my keys though :)

I love this knife. I've been EDCing a Classic for over 35 years but found an Ambassador in one of my little hiking packs recently (I've got five of assorted sizes). It does not have a keyring but I wouldn't use it for that purpose anyway. They appear to be discontinued for some reason but I was able to find a small stash from an Amazon seller for $14 each, shipped so I bought five more (which *should* be a lifetime supply at my age!). I love the Classic and have at least four new in the box left from when I bought a stash of those some years back. The Ambassador does everything the Classic does at a slightly larger size which make each tool better and more useful IMO. The nail file is particularly more useful as it has a pointed tip and better grit in the file itself. The Classic's nail file was changed many years back in order to give it a flat screwdriver tip which, while a little useful on occasion, is less useful for grooming your nails.

From here on out, it's my new EDC (along with my Mini-Grip which I've been carrying at least five years now).

Victorinox should make a variant of the Executive which has the combotool as found on the Rambler, which combines a philips screw driver and bottle opener. The small flat head screw driver could then be positioned on top of the file and the orange peeler could be removed.

1,000 AMENS!!! This would be a perfect SAK, in my opinion.
