Does anyone know when or why Victorinox changed the markings on their swiss army knives to read "Victorinox, Swiss-Made, Stainless" rather than Victorinox, Switzerland, Stainless, Rostfrei"? They also seem to have removed the little symbol from the side that says "Officier Suisse".

I think it was around 2008 -2010 (cant remember exactly). I heard that it was a cost cutting measure so they would have less letters (and symbol) to stamp per unit. IIRC this was around the same time they started using thinner blade stock for the main blade and putting a "dimple" on one side of the liner to compensate for the leftover space. If you have a newer and older SAK, you can check it out and compare them. Now I may have to look through my collection and see if there are any thin blade models with/without the new tang stamp just to be sure!

These markings were used between 1975 and 2005.

In 2005 they switched to these markings.

Hope this helps. :)
