Last week I got interested in the smaller SAK's made by Victorinox and bought a few. The first one arrived a couple of days ago, the Victorinox Midnight Manager. I bought it for the keychain knife rotation, but I put it in the pocket first, to get familiar with the tools.

It is a bit bulkier than the Classic SD and Ambassador that I used to have on the keychain, but has a lot of nice tools on board for such a small SAK. I was surprised how thick the combo tool with the philips screwdriver, bottle opener and wire stripper is. It feels solid. Since there's also a flathead screw driver at the end of the nail file, the Midnight Manager could serve as a handy tool to open for example electronic devices, which have small screws.

After refueling at the petrol station, I wanted to write down the number of kilometers the car made before resetting the counter, since I often calculate how much kilometers the car has driven on a liter of diesel. So I used the pen and it writes very easily, no need to push pen very hard on the paper. Of course the pen isn't meant to write an essay, but for making a note it works fine.

The LED light is red and quite weak, in my opinion. But there's always the Fenix E01 on the keychain, so the light will not be used very often anyway.

Thus far I really like the Midnight Manager, it's a set of useful tools in a small package, and I think it will be carried on the keychain a lot, probably more than the Classic SD and Ambassador. The Ambassador has a larger blade and scissors, but I usually also carry a 91 mm SAK or one of the alox models.

Very nice review. I just got a regular Manager yesterday. I also carry a light on my keys so I figured the tweezers would be more useful. The Manager is about twice as thick as an alox Classic.

I think the latest Midnight Manager comes with brighter white LED. The small philips screwdriver is really handy, I've used it to open battery compartments on toys and memory compartments on laptops. I went with the regular Manager because I EDC a Fenix L0D.

I agree that the regular version with tweezers would have been more useful, but one of the main reasons I bought this one was because it was on sale. Normally they cost between 20 and 30 euros here, but I could buy this one for 12 euros.

I recently picked up one of these as well. I agree that the red LED is very anemic, but I like the form factor. I'm liking the Classic/Rambler/Midnite Manager lineup.
