So I bought two of these Swisscards at a yard sale. They're white, come with scissors, the blade, tweezers, toothpick, file, and ballpoint pen. It came in a metal tin with a red top, and had Nomex Dupont © on the front. Also there are ruler marks. Does anyone have any info on this kind? Why can't I find ones like it online? I'd appreciate the help. Sorry I don't know how to send a picture, even though that would help a bit.

The fact that it says "Nomex DuPont" makes me think it was a special give-away. Outside of contacting Victorinox or DuPont, I have no idea how you'd find out the manufacturing date.

Does it have the cover you pivot open to remove the scissors ?
It sounds like it's just a special color version of the old original swiss card with the Dupont brand on it.

I thought the Swiss Card was still in production? I see them on the big river site.

Information on Victorinox's SwissCard:

Your tool list sounds like a SwissCard Classic. The original SwissCard was patented in 1996 and entered production in 1997. How do you access the scissors? If there is a dimple in the case, that is the current product design which dates it to 2008 or later. Earlier production had a rotating or sliding door which was probably dropped to strengthen the case. The comments I see online are that the case eventually will crack if you keep it in a wallet and carry the wallet in your prat or dummy (hip) pocket.

The case is Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol (ABS), a great plastic for this application which is not used by Victorinox for knife scales because sunlight degrades it. ABS is used to make LEGO bricks and cheap student instruments like recorders and clarinets. Keep your SwissCard, LEGO bricks, and plastic wind instruments out of the sun.

Current production SwissCards have translucent ABS cases in red, blue and gray. Translucent lets you see the tools and that could be why Victorinox switched from opaque.

SwissCards have been used for advertising since they entered production. The flat case is good for displaying a product name and logo. You won't find a lot of advertising SwissCards on eBay, so apparently they are not confiscated by TSA. Do us a favor, how long is the "letter opener" blade? Can it cut cardboard?

DuPont™ Nomex® was developed by DuPont in the 1960s. It is used to make flame-resistant clothing and protective gear.
