My Victorinox Climber has "VICTORINOX SWISS MADE STAINLESS" on side one of the big blade's tang, and "OFFICIER SUISSE" W/O any sort of umbrella emblem on the other side. If not indicative of a knock-off, why so, and when was it changed? The blade's finish doesn't seem all that good either.
My other Vics say VICTORINOX SWITZERLAND STAINLESS ROSTFREI on side one, and "OFFICIER SUISSE" w/ the umbrella-like symbol/emble on side 2.
Thanks!

The tang stamps have gone through many changes over the years and all are genuine. There was Elinox, Victoria, ARMEE SUISSE, umbrellas, no umbrellas, etc. etc. I have found no decrease in quality.

That's not an umbrella. It's a crossbow with a Swiss Cross next to it. That and Officier Suisse (Swiss Officer) are a reference to this knife being a member of the knife family to descends from the "Officer and Sports Knife" design.

Of course you're right. I know that but I guess I just went with the orinal question.

I guess the most common "version" is this one here (from my own Vic).

Do you have any pictures of other "versions"? It would be fun to know when they were changed and why. I'm quite sure they are different on my OHT, although I don't remember them in detail now.

I checked: the stamps on my Bundeswehr OHT are the same, but on the other side of the blade there isn't any symbol.

The Crossbow, Cross and Officier Suisse are only put on the 84 and 91mm knives IIRC.

My original Bundeswehr knives (Mauser pattern), from Vic have the
Victorinox Rostfrei stamp

and out current variety.

i was just in switzerland and bought a new locking blade Locksmith there.

Has anyone ever seen this designation stamped on the main blade before?
DE-GM
*some sort of serial number*

The other side has the standard "Victorinox, Switzerland, Stainless" on it.

I have a trekker that has that marking DE-GM with a seven digit number below it and Victorinox,Switzerland, stainless on the front,I have no Idea what it means!

i'd speculate that De-Ge stands for "deutcheland-germany" and that these blades were made for the german army OHT?
