My wife and I were shopping in the mall, she needed some smell good stuff. We walked into the shop, and the nice young sales girl asked, "How are doing today." I commented, "feeling kind of abused from the local animal shelter today." She looked at me kinda funny. I told her my wife and I were lookin to adopt a dog at the shelter, but felt very "judged" by the dog nazi behind the counter, we will not be getting a dog from the shelter. So, this young lady mentioned that another girl that worked there has a boyfriend who has a chocolate lab that just had puppies!!!!!!! This has to be fate, what a riot, I really did want a chocolate lab. Momma dog had 10 pups. 5 male and 5 female. We were the second buyer of this litter. I chose the lighter colored biggest female. She and I just bonded, it was a difficult decision. I know that BF is an oozing vat of dog lovers. So here I am and my wife with our new dog. We take her home on Valentine's day. I have the best wife ever! I need to really get her something nice for Valentine's day now....How can I top this...

This one is the momma dog. She was a little nervous because all of her little girls were in the house for us to look at.

Here is the dad, he apparently is of a hunting line....That would be icing on this really good cake...

Our new gal's name is Gracie. Gracie to remind me daily of God's grace for us, yes, even for the dog nazi behind the counter. If she would not have been rude, I would not have found the dog I really wanted. Thank you dog nazi!
Thanks for looking! Happy Ground Hogs day.....

It's pretty awesome when fate brings you and mans best friend together. I had wanted a dog for the last 5 plus years but my wife wasn't a big fan so we would talk in circles about it with the discussion going nowhere(for me at least). So one rainy boring day this summer we payed a visit to the local library to get the kids out of the house and we saw the van from the local shelter outside as they were having an outreach type of event. So against our better judgement we went into the basement where they were having the event and met Roxy, an eight month old pit-bull . She walked right up to us , sniffed us and kids and decided to adopt us;). Though it took some whining on the part of me and the kids to get wife on board, she now loves the dog and is way over the adopters remorse that she went through for the first month or so.

Chocolate is my favorite color of Lab,I had a female that I got in the early nineties she was a great dog.Good luck with Gracie, she looks like a nice pup.

Good pick. Good looking pup.

Thanks all! If I did not have young kids in the house, I would have taken home this beautiful tiger brindle pit boxer mix that was 2 yrs. old, but my wife wanted to have a puppy grow up with the family. I can rescue a pound puppy in about 15 yrs. or so. God willin and the creek dont rise of course.

Similar experience.
Had to put my best friend to sleep about 6 months ago, he had liver cancer.
My wife and I and his little sister moped around the house, she kept going from room to room looking for him.
I went to one of the rescue sites online and thy directed me to our local shelter for a cocker mix. The mix turned out to be a pomeranian mix, that she just looking at him ans was about 12 years old.
Took him back to the pound after this "housebroken" dog tried to mark his territory on every piece4 of furniture we owned.
Asked th woman if they had any real spaniels. She gave me the dirtiest look.
Went in back and found Miss Emma in the second last cage . She bonded with our other dog immediately. She still chews on things from time to time, but I would not give her up for the world.

Congratulations CJ! We would love to get another dog for my avatar to play with, but just don't have the room right now. Hopefully we'll be in another house in the next year or two, and then we'll add to the pack. ;)
