Ok, so I just dvr'd and watched the "Dead, White, and Blue" marathon last weekend. The shows not the most consistent in writing and acting, and the firearms knowledge is all but non existent, but they seem to have good taste in knives. While watching, I noticed a BM Contego, Spyderco Police, some sort of Busse, a BM Infidel, and a few others i cant remember. Anybody else notice these or others? Its funny to me how the show uses good knives like this when the viewers probably couldnt care less. So basically they are wasting budget money on really pricey props.....

OR......Dun dun dun....... the actors are all knife nuts...............:D

That's awesome! I've been doing the same with Sons of Anarchy (just started season 4).

The Walking Dead is the kind of show I really, really, really wish I could get into. It has a ragtag group of people, zombies, guns, knives, survival, all the stuff that should make me love it. So far I've seen season 1, admittedly short, and half of season 2 and I just can't seem to get into any of the characters save Norman Reedus. I have no idea why. It seems pretty well written most of the time. But for me to like a show I have to get into some of the characters and so far I can't. Kinda makes me sad, everyone else I talk to seems to love it to death.

Dang I love the walking dead and I havnt noticed those particular knives. I know Ricks wife carried a Spyderco, and I am pretty sure the crossbow dude (cant think of his name right now) carries what looks like a Busse, and of course they found that Gerber fixed blade collection in the truck and used the heck outta those.

Try a search, there are threads with the exact models. I don't recall ever seeing a Contego or the Police. I have seen a pile of Gerbers and a Gerber auto, a single Endura, and a Team Gemini.

There is much discussion of the Busse knives in TWD in the Busse subforum. I believe there have been 2-3 models used in the show, but primarily Daryl's TGLB. Lots of cool knives to see if you look hard enough!

Just wanted to add the Buck 110 and something that looks like a kershaw or mini grip or something that Andrea brandishes when someone tries to stop her from leaving the governors town

And RevDevil, Rick has a contego at one point in the scene where SPOILERS he goes into the basement of the prison and sees the walker that ate his wife. I think he kills it with an shot to the head and then is repeatedly stabbing its stomach with a contego. Or maybe im mistake and its a different part, but I think thats it. All I remember was it was a black coated combo edge 810.

Woops, just rewatched that scene, nope not a contego. It has a wide plasticky handle so it was probably a gerber something. It was dark in the room and all i saw was the reverse tanto blade.....

Holy crap you can get the complete set as an Apocalypse Kit?!?! :o I am beside myself with chuckling giddyness.

RedLynx, it would seem you are everywhere today! Funny how both threads are talking about the BG line too. And yes that kit is hilarious

What got me was in a very early episode where they are on the road with the RV, Carl finds a rolled up bundle of machetes, knives, and hatchets and one of them was the BG Parang. I laughed so hard cuz everything else in the show is so generic and hardly recognizable, but this one stood out like a sore thumb, especially since it was the only orange one in the bunch LOL

Damn, i didnt follow the Apocalypse Kit link. The set carl finds WAS the that kit...... Now I feel dumb

I bet you that kit is a pretty good seller for them!

I'll definitely try TWD again one day soon.

Yeah, I know what you mean about it.

I do like it, but its all the little things added together that make it imperfect for me. Guns that automatically rack their own slides as soon as they are pointed at someone (and not just the click sound you hear in movies all the time... Im talking a full on chick-chick sound...), incompetent people who suddenly turn into proficient operators or can take headshots from 80 yards with a Berreta 92fs even though they are pulling the trigger with BOTH index fingers (im talking to you carl), guns that make all manner of exaggerated clicking and scraping sounds when being handled, decisions that make no sense, obvious things that could be said to fix situations but arent said for some reason, parts that are so obviously added to create drama, characters that piss me off (like Lori and Carl), Rick's voice, Carl stupid face and hat, etc. :D Come to think of it, God I hate this show........ Whats there to like?
At this point, I just wanna see where the story goes, because the only characters I really care about now are rick, glenn, maggie, and Darrel. Not to mention the fact that the budget for each episode lately is probably like 50 bucks considering where theyve been filming. They need to get moving again and get into some cities

I think the "Governor" carries a Kabar Next Gen tanto. I might be wrong on the tanto, but I am almost positive its a kabar Next Gen. The "Governor" , what a dick lol

dogbertius,

Shane was one of my least favorite characters. Hes definitely logical and made better decisions than Rick most of the time, but he was too obsessive about Lori and had a no impulse control. Dale also kinda made me mad. He always played the "enlightened liberal" who "tried to preserve the groups humanity". God that guy was one dimensional. Point is, Im right because both got killed off :D

Darrel is my favorite because hes not trying to be a leader or anything, but he always knows the right thing to do, both logically and morally. He also doesnt get caught up in emotional battle with himself very often. Plus he carries a Busse and a crossbow, so

HAha that was awesome man. Everyone seems to like Daryl, even me.

I haven;t even seen enough of the show to see all the stuff you're noticing, and certainly not enough to say they're really doing anything wrong, it is likely a very good show for the most part, including many of the characters. Somehow I am just not forming any sort of "get into it" attitude with any of the characters. I am sure it is a very awesome show. All the elements I love are there. Even though I can't get into it, I bet it's awesome.

The problem is, I just don't care about anyone on the show. I can't get into a show if I don't care. Like if they all died suddenly in a zombie attack, if they ALL died and the show was over or something... I just wouldn't care that they died... and sadly I need to care about some characters in some capacity to watch... The writing seems fairly solid so I am not even sure why I don't care, but for some reason I don't.

For me, when I started watching, I was admittedly underwhelmed. I had been used to things like WWZ that were fast paced and big budget. When I started the series, the feel was just off for a show about zombies.... I dont know how to describe it other than slow and obviously low budget. A good example is the lousy special effects for explosions and such. I mean jeez, my phone app could do better. All in all, its still good, but you have to keep reminding yourself that it doesnt have the resources of a blockbuster. I will say the zombies are very realistic and the acting is pretty decent on the humans part

This is all old, old, OLD news! Yawn... Where have you guys been?

Of course you can buy the gerber set as an apocalypse kit. Of course you see the TGLB in action all the freaking time, etc., etc.... Have y'all been under a rock? I'm sorry fellas - I really am, but this is a horse that has been beaten into a slick oozing stain. There's nothing left.

Anyhow, good show, like the knives, like the guns, like the characters, etc... But the premise is just damn old to me. I mean "zombies". Yeah. Ok, zombies. What-farking-ever. It's been done to death, it's never ever going to happen, and the people who actually prepare for "zombies" are phocking paranoid ninnies. Just don't get the whole zombie craze that's happening lately.

Actually the point was a bit more focused to why the show would use such good knives if it wasnt necessary to please the viewers. But somewhere along the way it became a general thread about the walking dead. I knew there were other threads about it, but I just wanted to say that i had not only noticed the knives, but noticed that they were better than necessary for props.

Maybe that was a bit harsh! I'm sorry guys, really. Just pretend I didn't post that. I realize not everybody gets into a show right from the jump. Sorry about that.
