<b>Looking at this for my wife for a purse carry knife. Probably won't see too much use.

Ketsugo, welcome to Bladeforums. You've come to the right place for advice -- most of us are full of it ... in fact, you'll probably get so much free advice you'll get confused and go with the Walther!

Nice picture of that Walther. Unfortunately, it is what we would think of as a no-name brand, not really one of the top manufacturers, so we really can't speak for quality.

Check out a few Spyderco knives, like the Delica, Dragonfly, or Cricket. Bayou Lafourche has them, and so does One Stop Knife Shop and they are durable, sharp, small! and even cute.

Whatever you get her, I hope she does use it, and enjoy it.

Thanks,
I kind of figured that! Too cheap to be any good. I am quite familiar
with the other higher end brands as well.
Thanks,
John

The Walther knives are not exactly marketed towards knife nuts. They are marketed towards gun folks who may not know about knives. I have examined a few knives from the Walther line before and IMO they are mediocre at best in terms of design. Sure, they are well made all right - manufactured in Taiwan and have about the same quality as a CRKT knife but Nothing about their designs makes me want to carry one.

Just my 2 cents.....

The Walther licensed knives are produced by Gutmann Cutlery, the company behind the Junglee knives. My main criticism of Gutmann's offerings is that most of them are blatant ripoffs of other, more well-known designs. On top of that, the knives are usually priced to compete with those same name-brand knivs, but are roughly comparable in quality to United Cutlery blades. While I have no problem with that level of quality if appropriately priced (as United knives are), it makes the Gutmann knives far too expensive for what you receive.
