I do not have any experience with them, nor do I know of any store that carries them locally that can go and try them. Therefore I ask you guys about your experiences and knowledge.

This two models just caught my eye. Initially I am inclined to the Lochnessmuk because it looks tip heavy which might result in great chopping power, but one thing is looks and another real performance. The Speed Bowie could have an advantage on the polypropylene handle being more suited for our humid climate, but probably not enough to tip the balance by it self.

The intention is to use it as a chopper around camp, would like it to be heavier than a machete, mainly to be used to cut bamboo and small saplings but also like a big knife to process animals and even firewood.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Perhaps try the Dundee Bowie. Same handle as the Speed Bowie and more weight-forward than either the Lochnessmuk OR the Speed Bowie. :)

Here's my Dundee Bowie I bought from 42Blades
