Hi All,

What is the easiest tomahawk target to make? Do you have instructions or a video. I have brand new SOG and Cold Steel tomahawks that have been sitting in my garage for a year that I'd like to start throwing.

Thanks,

Jeremy

I have one of the end grain targets on the agenda for this summer, but for sheer ease of construction, you can't beat Palm tree rounds. Tree trimmers cut them down in biscuits that are about a foot deep, and a Queen Palm (if I remember the species right) can give you a diameter of 18" pretty easily. The coarse, loose grain of the Palm tree acts a lot like the boar bristle dart board, allowing them to take a tremendous amount of tosses before you retire them. If you live in an area with Palms, call up some tree trimmers and see if they are taking any out.

That’s a good idea but no palm trees here in Michigan. I was thinking of getting some boards from Home Depot and constructing something simple but strong enough for tomahawks. I have a drill but no saw so I’d have to have the boards cut there.

Any tree with soft wood will make a good target. This is a knot free white pine round cut flat on bottom to set on top another round. It has had thousands of throws and been in weather going on 6 years now. The problem with targets made from lumber is that it shrinks and becomes loose over time depending on environmental conditions. I've had knives go all the way through the cracks that form between the lumber.
