Hello,

I am looking to buy OTF knife. It is going to be my first OTF knife and I wanted it to be a hight quality item. I looked at Microtech Trodon and Piranha Excalibur. This particular knife I like the best - http://www.pvk.com/webcat/PirnhaExcaiburcticalOTFATEBKS.shtml#6046
But I heard that Microtech makes better knives. I dont want to spend more then $400. Also looking for blade length no longer then 3.5 inches.

Hope to find answers on this forum. Also please share best site where I can buy knife.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Both are good quality go with the one you like which seems to be the Piranha. I carry my Troodon almost daily and like it a lot, but I still want to get a Piranha down the road as well.

Handling a Microtech is better than playing with a puppy. They are expensive and practical only for satisfying your inner 12 year old, but fun to own none the less. I play...er....ponder one everytime I go jnto a local gun shop that carries them.

Microtech, hands down. I've never owned a Piranha beacause I've handled them. They don't hold a candle to MT.

I think Piranha makes nice knives (personally, I don't care for most of their handle colours), pretty well priced for US made autos. However, Microtechs are, in my opinion, nicer knives.

When I was looking for an OTF I played with several different ones (Benchmade, Piranha and Microtech) and settled on a Microtech Scarab Executive. I carry it from time to time, and it never fails to make me giggle when I use it.

Microtech! I have owned more than 30 of them over the past 12 years with only good things to say. Save a little extra for a Scarab, taller blade for better edge grind (sharper cutting edge). Have sold all of them except for my fave, Executive version of the Scarab single edge. You'll love the clack sound Scarabs have from the heavier blade.
