I have a few Civvi's and Sencuts and they are great knives and IMO and at a really good price point. I Would like to hear from some of you that own or have owned a WE knife if you think they are worth the price difference. Thanks for the input.

Absolutely.

I Have owned a few in the past (synergy2, saakshi) and currently have a Vision R, Black Void Opus and a Trogon.

All three that i currently have no issues and the fit and finish are excellent for the price point.

I've owned several knives from WE, Civivi, and Sencut. All are really well-built knives. WE's offerings are definitely a step up in terms of materials, and the price difference felt justified to me. They're also pretty easy to find used in excellent condition, so you can get some good bang for your buck.

Some of their newer high-end limited edition pieces are not the best value out there IMO, but still not outrageous when you consider the materials they're using.

I own two and I haven't treated them like a box queen. Both 20cv.

Something I enjoy. They didn't hog out the titanium under the scales. It's flat machined.

I don't know how long the unsealed pivot bearings will last. But then again. I'm not expecting to drop them in sand. Since the closest beach is 500 miles. I'm not going to use one to cut open a bag of concrete either.

Worth the money? Most definitely. Would or will I buy another? Yes. As long as it's an original design. Not the usual copy of both models of the Benchmade Vectors. Because they recently released a limited run of a model that was a straight up copy of the Benchmade 495.

I would say it depends on the models you're looking at. Both companies use the shotgun approach of releasing a lot of models, betting on a few of them being really good and finding an audience. So some models are much better than others. Also, there's more crossover between the brands now. I'd say the We Typhoeus isn't worth the price increase over the Civivi Typhoeus, and likewise for the We Vision R and Civivi Vision FG. In those cases, you're paying significantly more just for better materials. However, something like the We Arrakis or Reiver is unlike anything in Civivi's lineup and the intricacy in addition to materials is worth the upcharge IMO.

Just got the Proxima in 20CV raw titanium for $130 online . This knife can compete with $300+ USA made knives of similar configuration. Drop shut action, arrived razor sharp. Flips so nice.IMG_2023-12-04-142640.jpeg

That’s my point, if that’s what they’re getting why would WE sell for $170 when they could also be getting if not $300 at least $250. Leaving a $170-$120 on the table.

They out price their competitors, civivi and now sencut have always been that way.......

IMO, WE produces some very cool stuff, with the Arrakis being a standout in my experience. I regret selling mine. At the time they were going for under $200…

However, I will far more readily purchase a knife made by Reate or even Bestech, or other makers such as Kunwu. In my experience, WE is simply not as nice, with the action being a standout low. Reviews suggest that this may have changed in some of their more recent models, but the 4-5 WE knives I’ve owned have all been subpar to comparable at best (Arrakis).

TLDR: Civivi is far better value for the money than WE in their respective tiers. Having owned 4-5 WE knives and 5-6 from Civivi, the Civivis have held up, had better action than their expensive counterparts, and overall feel like you’re getting your money’s worth.

For $20-40 you can find a used Civivi that’s just about the best thing in that price range. You can find a used older model WE for $120-140, which isn’t bad for what you get, but I’d personally rather get something made by Reate for $180-220 that I’ll enjoy much more, or another Chinese production folder.

If the design makes you happy, go for it! But there is a reason why they’re cheaper used.

I wonder what happens if you need warranty support? 🤔 😬
I have a full ti deep carry (Cruwear) PM2 that I bought new, and have about $200 in total. It can certainly compete here. Generally you get what you pay for, unless it’s some new model that’s being scalped.

agreed, the Civivis are pretty nice, and definitely not bad compared to the competition (from Any country)

I got the WE Thug XL, first WE knife.
I liked the original but thought it was to small, never ordered and glad I waited as the larger size it perfect.
Feels larger than what the total length is and has a clean overall presentation.
Some thought the asking price was to much but I wanted it and have no regrets.

Hoback Kwaiback button lock TI, made by WE.
Great knife for a production "custom" design, mine has no issues whatsoever.

Recently picked up the Nefaris (plain jane) our of curiosity.
I like it, not sure how much I'll use it but it's a nice folder, extremely sharp with great action.
Comfortable grip.

What he said. . .

Plus, a lot of WE's recent models are really nice but they can be $400 or more. For a little less, you can get a Reate or Bestech oem'd knife (if it's available) and probably get a better made knife.

I have a few Civivi’s that are great. Really nice quality, nice feel, they love to be looked at, fondled and fidgeted with. I’ve looked at the We offerings, but I was fine with those three that I have. Right up until I came upon this article, which got me to looking at them again, which led me to the new special edition button lock Kitefins. And of course by now you must know the rest of the story … I now have this guy on order. It’s a limited edition, I had to.

Thanks a lot, BF, you did it to me again.

They're definitely a jump in quality compared to their budget lines. I'd argue the value is less than it used to be though. WE's prices are starting to get a bit too high lately, and their Damasteel versions are obscenely overpriced for some reason. I think some of their cheaper models are actually their best. The Roxi 3 might be my favorite knife from WE. The Soothsayer is awesome too. Crazy lightweight.
