Anyone wear welding hats? These things are great! Super soft reversible washable. They fit under welding helmets or hard hats. They have a soft brim which is meant to be worn in the back to protect your neck, or to one side to protect your ear.

If you do hard dirty work, these are the best work hats made. They soak up sweat and can be machine washed

I even wear a clean one when I’m sleeping and my head gets cold. Like when camping.

They look a little goofy but they are so comfortable.

They are made by lots of companies but Comeaux is the best I’ve found.

I’ve had a few Comeaux welding hats (down town St. Amant, be sure to stop by Don’s Seafood or Mike Anderson’s Steakhouse on the way out !).
The 8 panel from Welders Nation do look intriguing too.

Oh my! That looks good. Thanks for the invite.

Those 8 panel caps from Welders Nation look nice too.

I did end up buying a Welder Nation hat. I still like my Comeaux hats but the WN hats are on another level. Really high quality. Precisely stitched, heavy material really nice, but at a higher price point IMG_5118.jpeg

Got a new one today for fathers day. This one made by Bocomal. Very high quality. Interesting stitch they use it’s kind of a wave zig zag. The seams are very flat. This specific hat is larger than its size, not sure if they run on the large size.

It’s the first hat I’ve seen with a patch saying it is NFPA2112 compliant. Meaning it had to pass specific fire resistance testing. It’s a really nice hat. IMG_5122.jpeg
Easily as nice as the WelderNation hat but a little cheaper, but still cost more than Comeaux

Not welding hat but your posts remind me of my Japanese denim ”hipster cap”. It is modeled after early 1900’s work caps with loose structure and cap. It also looks silly and the only way to make it look decent is to tilt it all the way back. 😃
It is easily the most comfy hat I got though and makes great cap for activities including work. My fiancee doesn’t care for it though. She says it makes me look like boy from cartoons or something.

It does look a lot like a welding hat. How about a picture of the whole hat? The Mexican blanket SAK is sweet!

I like that. I can see how you have to roll the brim duck bill style. I see that a lot on the car TV shows. I bet that denim fades and looks even cooler.

Here are a couple more BOCOMAL hats. These came in a 2 pack. Nice quality, but without the zigzag wave stitch. These were almost as inexpensive as the COMEAUX ones. But much better quality. But the brims tend to curl out rather than sit flat. Definitely runs a little large IMG_5138.jpegIMG_5137.jpeg

This one came this morning. Made by KNOX seems ok. Not reversible, true to size, cool flame logo emblem, brim lays flat, but has a definite crease from shipping. Hopefully that goes away. Was supposed to be red it is pink.

Same price as Welder Nation, not even close to same quality. IMG_5140.jpeg

A new one today from Lapco. Seems decent pretty inexpensive. Definitely on the thinner side. Stitches are precise, runs true to size. One thing that I noticed on this hat, the top were the panels meet is nice and flat IMG_5180.jpeg

Comeaux caps fan here. I wear them under my hard hat at work. Comeaux is maybe 10 minutes from me. 5 if I catch all the lights green. And much cheaper to buy at the place. And the ladies are real helpful finding what you want. The options are about endless on fit and style.

That’s awesome! Maybe someday I’ll get down there for a visit. Good to hear they are nice people.

Comeaux has an interesting business model. You can buy the same product made in US or imported. They don’t claim it to be better. Just give you the option to spend a couple dollars more for a made in USA tag.

Curious if you ( SVTFreak SVTFreak )get the USA made hats? I’ve ordered both. It costs more to get the USA made ones, they do seem slightly better.

Comeaux also carries on the tradition of using loud prints, and for the most part you don’t get to choose. You aren’t supposed to care. It’s to protect your head not a fashion statement. Which over the years has become a fashion statement.

It’s fun to get whatever they choose. I buy the reversible ones. So you have 2 options.

I honestly don’t know. I just get what fits they way I want. They’ve never specified where it was made. But that might be why some are more than others. But still all cheaper than ordering on Amazon when you walk in. Plus, you can pic your prints. They have a couple racks in a small front room, but she’ll go dig through bags that are packed up for shipping and get out what you want and put the rest on the rack or rebag them. And sometimes even let you grab some test hats for shrinkage that they can’t sell. But those are often the extreme sizes and plain white.
