Went to Smoky Mountain today!

I travel to MB a few times a year, the shop is located in the "Broadway at the Beach" complex.
They opened a few years ago and I was stoked when I first saw the shop. The shop is definitely interesting, and the staff is pleasant.

Their inventory consists of a mix of vintage American traditional knives like Case, low end swords/knives, "handmade custom Damascus (Pakistan)" knives and clones.
They’re located in a high rent, high tourist area and the prices/inventory reflect that.

I was just there two weeks ago, and I walked past the shop without going in.

The problem is everything in the shop is Ali Express garbage.. not only are the prices jacked up but they are jacked up on $10 clones. I guess it’s allowed though, the hillbilly’s that visit MB don’t know any better.

I see more mullets in the 1 week I come to MB than the other 51 combined 😂

The first time I went in there, the woman behind the counter started telling me that they make all the Damascus knives in a factory a few miles away. :)

There was a small knife shop in North Myrle Beach (Barefoot Landing). They sold authentic name brand knives, at a reasonable mark up. But they closed last year.

I'm a part time MB resident, I bought a place down there 13 years ago.
Most everyone I come in contact with is from somewhere else, mostly the northeast and a good chunk from Ohio.

Whenever I do meet someone local to the area, they always make me feel welcome and I appreciate that.

I once spent an hour with two local gentlemen talking about Case knife patterns at a flea market in Surfside Beach.
No mullets just genuinely nice.:)

Oh yeah man I’m not knocking MB. We have been coming every year this same week for over 15 years. It’s the vacation I look forward to the most every year. It’s always a good time.

Probably wildfires that started from mulletheads throwing cigs out car windows.
The wildfire in Gatlinburg a few years back was caused by teens lighting matches and throwing them down. It wasn’t some mullethead flicking darts, it was the son of a high ranking cop a few counties over. They recorded the crap but magically they didn’t have enough proof to charge them. The NPS sat back and let it burn for a few days because they didn’t think it would be major. Had many clients lose their rental properties, I was clearing brush and debris that whole day trying to save cabins.

Honestly, that's probably exactly why they chose that name.

A few years back I looked up knife stores in Myrtle beach and this was the only one that popped up. I remember being confused but super excited because I thought it was SMKW. I can still remember my disappointment when I stopped by.

I mainly visited this year to show my brother in law how well the Chinese clone these legitimate brands now. From those pictures the benchmades look nearly real.

Side note, when I handled the Bugout pictured in the front, the pivot was so tight you could barely open it. I mentioned it to the salesman.

His attempted fix was spraying wd-40 in the pivot 😅
