Would anyone know where I could post or somewhere or somebody to contact in regards to finding the hatchet part to a western knife axe combo. This is the combination where you have the one handle and either the hatchet or knife snap into it. This is an older knife axe combo. thanks.

Would think in the wanted to buy section of the exchage. I have two of those sets ; one was my Dad's and the other he got for me; haven't thought about them in years. Of course, I think Western has been out of business for a long time; may be someone using the name.

Scrappy, I'm working away from home this week and don't have access to it, but here's a link to a Marble's set. Looks like a recently made one, but you can get the idea. I think the knife is longer in my Western set.

Case, Western, couple of other mfgrs made these sets in the 50's and 60's, when men were men and every other woman was, too. I've also seen sets by Hammer (a trade name of Imperial) that each tool had it's own fixed handle and they both fit in the same sheath.

Ones I have the sheaths are separate but can fit together; As I recall the knife is really nice; my Dad used the Hell out of his on deer and elk to the point where (I think) the hatchet sheath kind of gave up the ghost. I am curious now so will try to dig them out.
Sorry about the crappy pics, but there she is. There's not really any good secure place to carry the knife blade when the hatchet is handled up, and no place to sheath the handled hatchet, so I guess they figure it's a knife until you get to your camping spot, then use the hatchet when you need it.
He kept them both sharp though, and they hold a lot of good memories for me.

Need soneones help....I too have one of these axe-knife combos by Western. In looking at the book "The Knife Makers Who Went West", the catalog reprints show this combo set in the 1936 catalog, the 1941 catalog and the 1950 catalog, but the pictures in the catalogs do not show the lock-clip that keeps you from depressing the spring lever that allows you to release the handle. Is this clip version something unque or was it a short lived production run? And as asked before what year was it made. The one I have has a basket weave pattern on the sheath and has Western stamped on the leather. The knife shows some use, but I don't think the axe has ever been used.
I'm looking for the hatchet part as well! I have the handle and Skinner in amazing condition and I'm missing the hatchet. Does anyone know where I can find just the hatchet! I've looked everywhere!
