Crayola,

I am currently reading "The Wonder of Knifemaking" by Wayne Goddard. It is an excellent book for Knife nuts. It is a good primer for anyone new to the knife addiction or as the title states, anyone interested in knifemaking.
Wayne has a real down to earth writing style that anyone can understand. I highly recommend this one!

Hi Crayola

Here's my favorites:

-Levine's Guide To Knives & Their Values, expanded 3rd edition.

-Hear The Hammer - The story of Montana's Ruana knives, by Smith, Towsley, & Mandell.

-Randall Made Knives, The history of the man and his blades, by Robert Gaddis.

-Battle Blades, A professional's guide to combat/fighting knives, by Greg Walker.

-Knives 2000, edited by Ken Warner.

IMHO, I think these are nice. I'm sure though that other forumites can provide titles that you might appeal to you even more.

I don't have a very big knife library either. But I can recommend the KNIVES 2000, Edited by Ken Warner. Also I am currently reading a whittling book that came highly recommended called: Whittling and Woodcarving by E.J Tangerman. I really like the KNIVES 2000, it has some good articles and a really informative directory, plus they issue a new one every year. I think the 2001 is out now.
THANKS!!!

Kelly,
I must agree with you about Points of Interest! I also recommend "Making Multi-Blade Folders" by Terry Davis and Eugene Shadely. This is a GREAT book for makers OR knife nuts.

Crayola, if you ever (which won't happen) get bored with these books. You can always specialize in one field or go to other related blade categories like swords and knife/blade fighting.

My favorite without a doubt is Ed Fowler's Knife Talk. It is a wonderfully written book about knives. The stories are great and easy to read, including the techno stuff. There are some great stories there.

Just add one:
Swords and Hilt Weapons by Weiden, produced by Multimedia Books Ltd, 1st published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson Ltd, London. More on swords than knives but does put everything into historic perspective.

I think that all of the Knives annuals are good to have . You can often pick up copies at local gun/knife shows. Other books include;

"The Tactical Folding Knife" by Bob Terzuola
I just picked up a little book that I have enjoyed reading. It is " SWITCHBLADE- The Ace Of Blades" by Ragnar Benson. You can tell that this is an older book as none of todays auto manufactures are mentioned. Still interesting.

Art Sigmon

One more book which I have enjoyed and recommended to anybody with interest in Japanese blades:

The Craft of the Japanese Sword by Leon & Hiroko Knapp & Yoshindo Yoshihara.

A terrific book by one of Japan's leading swordsmiths (Yoshihara) whom you may have met at recent Blade shows. Concise, complete, and entertaining. A big plus is the detailed coverage on other sword-related crafts like polishin, habaki making, and scabbard carving which are rarely seen in print anywhere.

Thanks for all of your suggestions so far. I have "The Craft of the Japanese Sword", Terzoula's book and Goddard's book on my short list. Some of you have mentioned some books that I have never even heard of before! Thanks again.

P.S.: Maybe us forumite knife nuts ought to WRITE our own book: THe pass around knife book. Any takers?
