What are these things? VZ G10 Daggers.

Those non-ferrous daggers are pretty common going back to the original CIA letter opener. Strength depends on the maker.

Do not try to take on a plane ride.

They're meant as a shiv that won't set off metal detectors. As noted above, they are still dense and will show up on airport scanners. You'll either have them removed from your carry on, or removed from your person as you sit in handcuffs in a private room :p

And considering I was "randomly selected" to go thorough the mega-detector (that's what I call it anyway) both ways on my last flight, carrying something like that would have been a BAD idea. ;)

They'll leave a nasty wound and wont set off a metal detector. Maybe good for self defense at an arena or some other large gathering.

I certainly wouldn't try carrying into anywhere protected by something more than trespassing legislation though.

What they're really for is sitting on the shelf next to your copy of the Anarchist's Cookbook and D&D Monster Manual.
They are really sold as something that guys look at while sitting at home and go, "Neat!"

Just enough like a real dagger to hang you ! Won't really take or hold a sharp edge , mostly just for stabbing . If you can't legally and socially justify a real knife , this is not a viable alternative .

I've got a CS rondel dagger next to my D&D books. :D

Anyway, I've seen a bunch of different non-metalic knives and daggers at my self defence classes. I've tried a few on pigs (something I shamelessly stole from Ed Calderon) and there are some that work pretty well for their intended purpose. The main thing they've got going for them is that they are super light. Most of them will break after a few good stabs, but that's probably all you'll need them for (if you ever do need them).

I think they have a place as a niche weapon (I carry a Delta Dart from time to time) when you can't really carry anything else.

It could have been worse . Any conscientious security personnel , having read your books , would randomly select you for a DEEP cavity search, accompanied by enthusiastic tasering for "resisting " !

Which is about what would happen if they found any kind of nonmetallic shiv on anybody entering or within a security zone : airplane , court house , federal facility , etc. . Might even get some jail time . Not worth the risk !

Delta dart's the best at its price range, or maybe even better.
Hot tip is bamboo
Or maybe even something much denser
